i think it was bound to happen ,

there is another thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3027368

stating they are not putting up fixed online tarrifs YET !! whether its true or not who knows ???/
  • Just thought I'd join in at the madhouse...

Signed up on 29/11, still no electric supply. Was told I'd be switched over on 1/1, then that it would be "a maximum of 10 days" to get a new meter fitted (I only moved in on 26/11 to discover a key meter with E-on eating up my money to pay for the previous tenants debts, that they were going to charge me to remove)

The online account section says waiting for a reading, but I supplied that on 2/1 and it still says waiting. When I went to submit another one, it said it couldn't accept my final reading, linked me to the contact page which kept throwing back any mail I tried to send.

The account states my supply started with them on 1/1, but I'm still very much being bent over and had by E-on's prepayment meter (though thankfully not being charged for the old tenants debts).

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll even get to see any of this wonderful cheap rate electric. I get the feeling that by the time they do actually get me switched over it'll be March already :(

    9W 4D and counting....

someone got onto BBC watchdog about this EDF and changing energy suppler fiasco !!
  • The BBC Watchdog team would have a lovely time if they decided to contact EDF by telephone. That "hold" music for 25 minutes is a joy in itself.
  • finally switched to edf, final bill from scottish power today. dont know how you serial switchers do it. Im exhausted

If you want to avoid the muzak, I've found that contacting EDF via the My Account messaging system does work. My gas DD was initially set to a ludicrous £6pm. I requested that this be reset to £35pm via the messaging system and within 3 days I had an emailed response and the DD was changed.
Of course this is assuming that you've been able to register for My Account in the first place.
However, 3 weeks after going on supply and submitting opening readings online, the system still tells me that it's awaiting my opening reading, so not quite there yet it seems...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

My gas DD has been set up to almost equally ludicrous £11/mth. I'll try your method of successful contact, macman, cheers.

I'll request they change the 'on hold' music to a much more ironic song by one of their fellow countrwomen, Edith Piaf's 'je ne regrette rien' :D

I've sent a complaint letter with a reliable pigeon. I am hopeful of more progress.:)
