My original supply dates were before the end of 2010. Spoke to them on the 10th Jan to ask when the gas was switching (the electricity went through on the 30th December no problems) and they advised it was going through on the 11th Jan. Spoken to NPower (my old supplier) today about final bills etc and they advised me they still had the gas and had not heard anything about moving it. (Which means even though i've told them weeks ago I am moving it, I am going to be affected by their price increase) Spoken to EDF again this morning (about 10 mins to get through) and asked them why it hasn't gone to them, their reply 'system problems'!!! GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER EDF!! Now I am been told it won't switch until the 2nd February which means I have a huge price on Gas with NPower until then, and I'm on standard tariff for Electric with EDF as they can't apply the Online Saver 7 tariff to my account until they have both the fuels with them. Some lady calling me back before 11 to see what she can do! Useless, Useless, Useless!!!!!

I am in the same position as you, p1nkk1tten.

According to the man I spoke to at EDF, they applied "too early" for my gas switch and it was rejected.

I've written and emailed with my complaints but no response as yet.

Just got orf the phone to EDF...they confirm both start readings. Almost instant answer on 08000969000. Didn't have to give a/c number, just confirm address. They are using phone number to identify, same as Southern Electric.
Now to battle with Topcashback .
  • HELP!!!!

Regarding the standard tariff issue, I brought this up on the phone a couple of weeks ago and i've been told it's tough **** as it's in their t/cs and all the discounts are applied to the gas (convieniently) so they wont refund me... what has everyone else said to em to get the backdated online tariff, as opposed to being stuck on the standard until the gas goes over. My electricity started on the 30th December and they are now telling me Gas wont start until 2nd February.. thats over a month at standard rate.. I moved to save money, not spend more.

And to add insult to injury NPower, my current Gas supplier, are now charging their higher prices for that because the gas isn't going through in 'a reasonable amount of time' because EDF applied for the gas too early, putting it back even further... someone please help.. i'm going out of my mind :(:(:(
I work for first direct and have previously worked for Santander.
Any information I give should not been seen as being given from first direct or Santander however I do have certain knowledge from working there.

    Thank you, Chrissy

In my case, she also started to say it's in their T&C and it always take a little time for the new tariff to apply. I replied that for me, 25 days is more than "a little time", then I referred to the EDF Legal department message that backfoot copied above. She asked: "where did you see that" and explained tat it is on this forum. Then she proceeded saying that she can give me a refund for the difference.

Thank you, I will ring them, at some point, i'm just sick o doing it now.. will get my partner to do it later.. he's more rational than me. I will scream n shout and possibly cry at them, and seeing as I work in a call centre myself, I know what it's like when it's not your fault personally.

  • EDF manually transferred me onto Online Saver 7 today and promised to backdate it to December 25th. Winner!
  • Taken from their email contact us page:
Simply send us an email with your enquiry and we'll get back to you within 10 working days

Is it just me that thinks that is a ridiculous amount of time to potentially wait for an email response?? That's 2 bloody weeks!
  • just got through within 2 mins!! Lovely lady called Lisa who confirmed my electricity was transferred wef 30/12/10 but my gas won't be until 3/2/11!! I haven't got the energy (pun intended) tonight to argue the toss about not being charged the standard rate in between, will take that up with them when the first bill is produced.

My gas switch over has also been delayed to the exact date as yours! This is the third date that I have been given for gas change over but no explanation why. Hope they are not just telling everyone the 3rd of Feb to get us off the phone!

I can access my online account but just has basic details, the space for my product is blank. I have submitted electric meter reading and have switched for this.

I am going to phone tomorrow to enquire about being on standard rate in the meantime.

Quidco tracked and validated only after submitting an enquiry.
