In the summer I bought one of those internal window things to stop the heat getting in when its parked. I now use that on the outside of the windscreen at night and theres no ice the window in the morning.

    Cost - £1

The side windows I just scrape while waiting for the car to warm a bit.

[sarcasm] ^^ Just wind the windows up and down a few times, don't listen to all the non-sense about broken window mechanisms/motor's and damaged seals :rotfl:

In all this thread, I can't believe there hasn't been a single suggestion of how to clear your windscreen and empty your bladder in one simple operation.

what if they just take the key?

well i lock the door behind me with the central locking fob . so they will have break window , tosteal key to get into a car with a Thatcham cat 3 steering lock on the key for which is in my pocket .

even if they did steal the key i can make it useless with the red master .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I didn't used to bother with de-icer, just used a scraper. Thought I was being "green". Ended up with deep scratches in the glass of both our cars. Turned out to be a tiny bit of grit embedded in the scraper!

These days we usually use car covers (from Argos or similar) - they do a brilliant job.

I like to have some de-icer handy in case we forget to put the cover on. Like others who have posted, I now go for the trigger type instead of the aerosol. Bought some Tesco own-brand the other day, 500ml for £2.50, rated to -15C. Saw the IDENTICAL product in Poundland (for £1 obviously), AutoQuest brand, made by Tetrosyl in Bury (who manufacture for Tesco own-brand). Also rated to -15C. Either Poundland is making a loss or Tesco is making too much profit on this...
