Does anyone else just scrape?! :)

I start the engine and then scrape.
  • Usually mine freezes when I come home from work but is defrosted before I leave for work 3pm;) Whilst in work its in a heated workshop:D

The Others I'll run until they defrost maybe bit of scraping if in a rush.

Scrape a hole big enough to see though, scrape the side windows to see left/right + the mirrors (my mirrors are heated). 5 minutes later im frost free :)

Sometimes use a fan heater in the car before I set off ;)

I do. However, I note the OP's comment about arthritis.

I do have a spray bottle of de-icer, but I have yet to use it. I'd use it, for example, if it had rained and then frozen, to gently free the wiper blades.

Invest in a good quality scraper and then actually smooth and sharpen the edge with some fine abrasive paper. I've had my CarPlan one for years.

I also now use the 500ml spray bottles, even though the 600ml aerosols may be a bit cheaper per unit of volume. For a start, they aren't pressurised, so don't get cold when you use them. You can also see how much or how little is in them.

You can also use the empty bottles for Stardrops/white vinegar/water for friends and relations.

PS. Why can't you get spray de-icer in refill bottles?
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Take it how you will, different people have different idea's of how big said hole needs be... I'd class it as most of the lower half of the windscreen, as I mostly drive with the visor down anyway (probably too lazy to keep fr1gging about with it) :p

I put a bath towel over back/front windscreens and trap them in the doors when closing. Whip them off in the morning and stick them in the boot. No scraping malarky.

Its been so cold recently they actually fold in half like cardboard ;-)

Don't bother with the front side windows then?
