One tip for stopping screen wash freezing is to put methylated spirit in to the screenwash bottle, two 500ml bottles protects down to at least -14 which is what it was here this morning and mine worked a treat.
To keep the screen frost / ice free ? I use a large piece of cardboard covered with a plaggy bin liner, held in place by the windscreen wipers. Never needs scraping

The only de icer I have ever found that does the job is the one the Shell garage sells and it has a trigger spray. Been using it for years now and my paint work is still good too. In fact it is the only time I go into that garage, it is a bit pricey but does the job and I live way up north;)Returning member as system did not know me anymore

IMO there is no fast way to clear a windscreen (unless you have a Ford),
Which I do! Push a button and wait 2 minutes, nice.
Doesn't help the side windows or that your screenwash has frozen solid because it's -12C outside...
It's a good job too because IME the engine doesn't start putting out heat when left to idle, in fact it doesn't really put out significant heat until you get up to motorway speeds.0 -
Pls don't leave your car engine running to warm up the car up, while you go back indoors as it was on our local news a couple of days ago that 12 cars have been stolen in this area while people have left the engine running unattended....i'd hate it to happen to anyone on here.:eek:
i do this , BUT i leave my 4tress steering lock on the steering wheel and only have the ignition key in the ignition .
good luck to any thieves trying to get that thing offBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Also it's a little enforced law but if your car is parked on the road it's illegal to leave your engine running while the car is 'unattended'.0

Yes, and I was somewhat unimpressed!!! The pack says you spray it on the night before and it helps stop the ice forming, you're supposed to be able to just use your wipers the next morning.... Mmm, nice idea but I still had to scrape or I'd have lost my wipers.Has anyone had much experience of using the pre-de icers?

Car + Garage + Winter weather = Happy goggle in the morning!
Never understood why people fill their garage with junk & then leave their car on the drive - especially in the bad weather ...0
