does anyone think we need a separate thread for collectors to share experiences?0

Just wanted to let anyone else know who is in the same boat as me...ie applying for jobs for when census collecting finishes: I confirmed with my area manager that we are in fact employed by Capita, so if anyone else was confused as to who to put down as their employer it is Capita.
If you're still not sure look at your payslip - "Employer: Office for National Statistics"0 -

I know probably half the people in the area as i've lived here for years so it is difficult. I only asked her if she had sent it in, as a friend not for work purposes but it meant i could mark it on my 'will send' list:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

You were recruited by Capita, you are employed (and paid) by the ONS

Got the phone call and started today at about 2hours notice:j.
Told might get redeployed to another area (suspect not enough work in my area) and will get paid from today not from contract start date:(.
Told coordinator to check that is the case.
Not many people answering their doors on my 1st day out.0 -
If you have been contracted to start work from a certain date, then bl00dy well claim your hours from that date! (and demand that you be allowed to do so!) I'm sure that like most people you will have washed/ironed clothes ready for that date, arranged meals, postponed appointments, sorted child care etc etc. If you were ready and set for work from the start date of your contract, then it's not your fault that they were too useless to contact you then.
What's the worst that they can do? Say no? Sack you? I doubt it. The bottom line is that Capita have a (huge!!!!!!!!!) budget and it really is not going to affect them, ONS, the Government or the tax payer if they pay some people for contracted hours when they hadn't yet got round to contacting them. The money has already been spent.
