one of them is a really good friend who posted it in last Monday

I thought it was confidential - shouldn't you be leaving your friend for someone else to go round and see, to avoid any suspicious accusations? It could affect any potential prosecution in the future...
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

I live in a small place and everyone knows everyone, nothing is confidential here. All the collectors have visited all their neighbours (there is no one else to visit!). I am contracted for 37hours, but even if I dressed as a snail and crawled to each house, i am going to complete my quota in much less time. Surely you only get paid for the time you put on your timesheet and not the full hours if there isn't enough work?

I was told at the beginning that the route you are given should take you the amount of time you are contracted for. However, if you are on the ball and able to complete it in less time then you still claim for the full amount of hours.

Wow. So many moaners on this thread.

The census has come up, giving many people the opportunity to make good money over a short period of time for very easy work. Those that don't get the jobs say it is a disgrace, others moan that they don't get enough hours/money, while some are complaining about the nature of the responses from householders.

Get over yourselves. Find some better, regular employment if you are not happy. But please stop monaing about anything and everything.
Getting married to a wonderful lady on August 10, 2012.

Need to save up, lose weight, reduce my money worries and get back to being the real me! :j

    Post of the year.

Unfortunately some people just like to moan about everything.
  • ampafc, I don't think people are moaning really, just sharing experiences.
  • I'm on a 37 hour week and have 150 houses that i'm persuading to send their paperwork in. I spoke to half of them last week and one of them is a really good friend who posted it in last Monday so potentially most of them could be off my list by the end of the 3rd week. Apparently theres now 13 of us around here and there should have been 15. I don't know what would have happened if there had have been 15 as there isn't that many houses to do now really. I just wonder actually what will happen in weeks 4 and 5 as I know that most of mine will be done by the end of week 3, which if they are does that mean we won't get paid any more? (which is what I think will happen) As if so it will be really rubbish as 2 weeks money is quite a lot really

We're getting different EDs every week, at the moment concentrating on areas of low response, then from Wednesday I believe it will be all areas.

Well I have been "employed" by ONS for almost a week now, on the payroll system etc. Its just nobody has contacted me to do any work!

Contacted the "help" desk several times who say they will investigate, but nothing happens

Will I get paid while waiting for the "phone call", otherwise it will cost ME to do this job very soon, what with childcare etc.:(

well i'm not moaing, just sharing experiences, as andyroberts said. and although a lot of it is fairly easy, i'd challenge you to stand on a noisy town centre street trying to talk over a faint and crackly entryphone to explain the census to someone who doesn't speak good english!

This thread is about census jobs and those of us who HAVE experienced the total incompetence if Capita have a right to discuss it. If you dont like it, go and view another thread that is relevent to you. We are just sharing experiences, that you clearly havent been a part of :p
