the novelty value of this has worn off completely now. down to the hard core of addresses of people who never seem to be in, so just trudging round ringing the same doorbells for no response over and over. another 2+ weeks of this???0

Why are you complaining? It's a month's gig that pays £10 per hour for basically ringing doorbells. The weather is great and looks like it will hold for the next week or so and you'll get holiday pay at the end of the stint.
So the novelty has worn off and you seem to imply that you won't be able to hack another 2+ weeks of it. You shouldn't have taken on the job if you knew you're easily bored.
I can understand complaints from those who feel messed around by the recruiters but you sound ungrateful and shiftless and just like to complain for the sake of it. I bet if ONS/Capita/whoever_it_is_you_work_for/ turned round and told you that your contract is to be cut short due to the fact that you're bored with your job you'd soon quit complaining and get on with it. Or maybe you'd just complain I suppose.0 -

good grief! that post must've really put a bee in your bonnet if it prompted you to sign up just to have a go! :rotfl:
firstly, it doesn't pay £10 an hour in my area.
secondly, i know full well i'm easily bored, but that's not the point. i'm not blessed with the level of foresight you seem to think i should have. the job has not turned out as expected. had i known in advance that the job would turn out like this i may well not have taken it.
do you know in advance how everything in your life will turn out?
but you're clearly someone blessed with extraordinary perception as you can judge me as shiftless and a complainer from one post!
and if my coord were to say to me tomorrow that i've the option of quitting without leaving her in a jam then i'd take it. however i happen to know it would and so this particular shiftless moaner feels conscientious enough not to do that. :A0 -
All jobs eventually get boring but as this only 2 weeks it should be OK. There are people out there who really NEED a job and would bite your hand off to be "bored". Contrary to the common tabloid inspired belief there are many unemployed people out there who receive NO benefits from the state and take any and every job that is on offer. I really think you should quit and let one of the standby people tae the role.0

Yes it did put a bee in my bonet because you sound ungrateful for landing a gig that is relatively easy to do and is a short income boost that other people who didn't make the cut would have been happy to do.
So you are easily bored? that's just another word for lazy. Most jobs are boring but most people just get on with it. You sound very boring and loud mouthed. And your admittance that'd you quit confirms what I already suspect: you're a shiftless quitter who gives unemployed people a bad name. This is a MONTH'S gig and you can't even see that through!
Telboyo is right, step aside for someone who needs the money as you clearly don't.0 -

And the thread prize for "best display of moronic abuse masquerading as tell-it-like-it-is insight (Tag Team class)" goes to telboyo and CCBCCC. Well done guys - hope your mums are weally pwoud of their little smashers.
dou jyr - carry on, as someone who is actually doing the job rather than speaking from the sidelines in a position of ignorance, I understand exactly where you are coming from.0 -

water off a duck's back, Piggsy. i suspect CCBCCC is NGM under a new name. posting style, poor logic and arrogance are similar. i'd had a pop at him a few times so he probably just wanted to have a go back0 -

I am doing the job (CC) and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. OK the recruitment process bordered on farcical but once the job started you are basically left alone to do the work. We are paid on time. The weather is (so far) great. Most of the HH have been nice and even those that are against the Census haven't been as abusive as I thought they would be. So yes I know what I am talking about and I stand by my point that you including your little fwend are shiftless and enjoy complaining for the sake of it. Roll over and let someone more deserving do the job.
This is the first casual job I've done in about 15 years (normal job is more mainstream and office bound but the recession brought me to this) and it's been a nice experience. Shame it's only a month I could easily have done this for longer, Maybe 25 hours as opposed to the 37 I'm currently doing to accommodate my usual job.
Right, I'm off out to knock on doors and get some exercise. Nice day for it too.0 -
