!!!!!!!!, it's a guideline but if you're familiar with your route and certain HH are not contactable between 2-9 you're expected to be flexible and start earlier. Obviously not 9 but by the time I get to my ED it'll be around 10. Seriously you're a lazy one if you can't be arsed to get out of bed to maximize your returns. I bet you don't even bother to push for waiting for a form to be filled so you can collect and post it at thenearest post box. I bet you're so lazy that you've filled out Dummy forms for all your addresses just so you can laze about and whinge.

    Shiftless trout.

The only reason I came to this site was to find out if anyone else was starting the CCS Interviewer role afterwards.

Yes, I am. Although I'm not a collector at the moment. I have my training next Wednesday and start on the 9th May. My recruitment process has been pretty good to be fair. I waited 5 weeks instead of the 2/3 I was told after my telephone interview but everything else has been pretty good.

Hi dou jyr, I don't know why everyone is being so mean to you! I can't believe so may people are jealous of this job. I guess I'm just lucky but I find there is always plenty of work going somewhere if you look for it, so why don't they find something else to do instead of being nasty to you. The work does get boring as we keep going back to the same places, but it is pretty easy work so I can't complain. (or daren't complain on this forum!!) Most of mine are in in the day as they are mostly farmers, and alot are holiday homes, and the people are there on holiday now - so I am finding that i get a better result doing it in the day so we all start earlier here - I guess it depends what area you do and your coordinator.
I think we should have two threads as well, one for people doing the job to share experiences and even moan about it if they want. - and a second thread where people who didn't get the job can slag off everyone who did.

water off a duck's back, Piggsy. i suspect CCBCCC is NGM under a new name. posting style, poor logic and arrogance are similar. i'd had a pop at him a few times so he probably just wanted to have a go back ;)

No I definitely am not that person even though I note that "dou jyr" was one of those previously persistent in putting in the boot against me by giving their Thanks to any negative posts about me.

But I think CCBCC is completely right as "dou jyr" ticked off other people for being unhappy with Capita's selection processes on the basis they were not as clever as she/he is then as soon as they start work promptly tell us they are bored.

All but an idiot would surely have realised that the majority of people who are hard core about not returning the census are either going to be mad, illegal immigrants, students in private accommodation or second property owners. Also they would realise that the people you meet would get more and more and more difficult on average about cooperating as time went by.

Also I do get bored easily with routine work but sitting in an office processing forms is way, way more boring than going out on the door step and trying to play amateur psychologist in terms of trying to work why that person has not returned that form and also noting if there are common themes in terms of the condition of the property amongst non returners.

It would have been excusable for people to get down hearted if there had been days and days of rain but as the weather has been fantastic dou jyr seems to have no excuse at all for being so ungrateful.

Lastly out of interest can anyone tell me what the next step is once a Collector has called at an address and left a card three times?

Experience during elections shows that unfavourable responses to calling can start being received after about 7.30pm on weekdays on the basis of the kids having been put to bed etc and that you the caller should know that etc. Calling after 7pm on Saturday or 6pm on Sunday is in my opinion also very inadvisable.

In my opinion you are very unlikely to get an unfriendly reaction to calling between 9am and 2pm on weekdays but Capita recommend against it only on the basis that a somewhat higher percentage of people are out so they will get less bang for their buck. To be honest this situation actually continues until 4pm but Capita recommends a 2pm start presumably on the basis of a 7 hour shift.

Clearly the more times people have not been in when you have previously called the more acceptable it is to call at marginal times like between 8pm and 9pm.

It all depends on the area too. In an area of flats with lots of single people in a town then 7pm to 9pm would give your best hit rate whereas on an estate with lots of 4 bed family houses you will start to get a very rough ride for calling after 8pm

the novelty value of this has worn off completely now. down to the hard core of addresses of people who never seem to be in, so just trudging round ringing the same doorbells for no response over and over. another 2+ weeks of this???

    I hear ya :)

At least the weather's still nice and they're paying us eh?
