I bet you haven't even figured out a way to see your return % just by looking at the work sheet your coord gives back to you?

I don't need to because he tells me. Doesn't yours tell you?

Got the phone call and started today at about 2hours notice:j.

Told might get redeployed to another area (suspect not enough work in my area) and will get paid from today not from contract start date:(.

Told coordinator to check that is the case.

Not many people answering their doors on my 1st day out.

I'm glad you finally got started. Olias is right - you are entitled to be paid from your contracted date. It's clearly not your fault that you have been waiting to hear from someone. Hope you get some joy from your co-ordinator with this.

I am finally due to start work tomorrow, after more than 2 weeks waiting. I was in a similar position to you, ex-dmp, and I've already been paid from the start of my contract - and so should you be!

By the way, why is there so much bickering and nitpicking on this thread at the moment? It is very tedious and not at all helpful.

Given the whole complexity of the exercise in terms of the collection process I find it remarkable just how little data they do collect.

For instance nothing in the Census on how far your place of work is from your home, how many miles you drive, what your income is, what your monthly expenditure is etc.

I personally feel the census should carry on (as the historical aspects of who lived at an address are very useful to anyone doing ancestor research) but that substantially more data should be collected about everyone surveyed if it is continue to be worthwhile. Travel patterns in particular seem to be a huge missed opportunity for future government planning.

To be honest its difficult enough trying to get people to fill the forms out, if they asked people about income and the like there would be even more hostile receptions as at the end of the day what you earn and what you spend it on really is only your business.

Nah you're just going through the motions, cos you is well bored, innit?

Bored with you though. Oooh it's contagious!

Our co-ordinator gives us an update every 3 days. At the end of the day its not a competition to see who can outsmart the other one as I originally asked if others were working on it to see how everyone was getting on and not to have all the bickering. I left school a number of years ago and thought I had left it all way way behind - how wrong was I!

Well ours hasn't yet, we only get an overall count so as far as individuals' EDs go: it's "well done, your returns are very good" or "you need to knock on more doors as you're not getting enough returns" etc. Yes I know it's not a competition but with most tasks I undertake I like to see how much progress I'm making.

I have 6 EDs and so far my lowest is 79% and the highest is 89%.

Good for you that you left school years ago and that you don't bicker, clearly you're a much more rounded and sophisticated human being than everyone else!

Anyway I'm done, I was looking for other CCS Interviewers and Google brought me here. Good luck to those who got the gig, hopefully the weather will be as kind to us as it's been so far.
