Am I the only person here who thinks it is totally and utterly unbelievable that in return for completing the online census return (which must save the government at least £5 to £10 per census form unless they can manage to optically read all the paper ones and even if they can I bet there are loads that fail and have to be dealt with manually) that you don't get an emailed receipt and that if you use the same code again to try to login to confirm you submitted the data successfully you are now told the code does not exist on the system.

Any even halfway decent system would surely confirm that this census has already been submitted at Time A on Date B.

I tried the goons at the call centre on the 0300 number (at least that is included in my calling plan) but following the usual scripted responses they have they claimed I was the only person to have ever raised an issue about not getting an email to confirm receipt. Obviously a complete lie but typical of the mentality of the garbage that
companies like Capita who run these call centres train their staff to tell the customer.

I haven't tried but maybe they have limited staff today?

And why would that be when this Census contains no less than eight days that fall within so called Bank Holiday weekends and such weekends ought to be prime opportunities for tracking down the defaulters!

The employee help desk can't help people with their census forms

So what. The census collectors are also still working over all of these eight different bank holiday days.

may I just say that this thread started off as a really helpful thread, and now its just a thread for a few people to throw insults at each other! Some of the comments have been really helpful to me whilst going through the interview/ employment stages. And I was hoping that this support and help would carry on till the end of the work, but unfortunately I am going to unsubsribe and stop reading.

and thats why i set up the thread to gain and give advice. Come on guys lay off the insults and just chat about whats going on. Lifes too short to be miserable and to keep being horrible to each other and if you wouldn't say these things in person why do it online as it still has the same impact on the person reading it.

try using the ignore list. it's the best way to deal with trolls.
  • I was just wondering how people are getting on with Phase 2 so far, I am finding it harder, and the hours are harder to do as there are fewer doors to knock on, but at least they're leaving me to plan my own hours. And I don't feel so bad that I can't get the last ones in, let's face it, if I could then there would be no need for a compliance team. What does everyone else think? Thank goodness the weather's only been fine and dry since day 1 (in Essex at least!)

i'm finding the same. I started off with 320 houses on a 37 hour a week contract. By last week I had I think 160 houses and by the time i handed it in yesterday I had 80 houses but really 30 of those I haven't spoken to as theres some flats and 2 i think could be empty and the rest have sent them in and a few of them are dummy forms. My co-ordinator said something about the last week being reduced hours but i'm sure it wasn't in the contract. Plus were already at 92% so were all going to be the same for the rounds. Lets say the next 10 days will be a doddle and around here the non-compliance office won't have much to do at all.

plus we have been told to allow an hour to plan, an hour for your expenses sheet and other time for paperwork tasks so make sure they are included too
