I'm happy, I picked up my first workload today, have spent all evening working out my best routes as the house numbers are not all in the right order within the roads, hopefully this will save me quite a bit of time for when I hit the streets tomorrow at about 3pm. I'm pleased the next few days are set fair weather wise too, I'm planning on wearing a t-shirt, smart shorts and walking boots - who knows, I might even get a bit of a suntan in sunny Southend!

your telling me, i've walked up and down up and down as even the house numbers don't always follow on!

had a great day out today. what superb weather! god is smiling on us census collectors (thugh i'd rather have been on the beach! at least i could walk along it to get to my area :))

am absolutely gobsmacked just how NICE everyone i've talked to has been :D faith in the gbp restored???

I agree about the last line, but i think alot of people are worried when we get to their door that they may get fined, but i've mainly reassured people that there fine as long as they send it in. Anyone on 37 hours worried that when we have done the workload there will be no work (i have done about 15 hours now and have been to all the houses but have spoke to about a quarter of them) but everyones either sent it in in the last few days or are sending it in by Monday, so i recogn by the end of next week we won'd have much work to do. Anyone else finding the same?!

someone said about Tuesday, we've been told that we will have to hand our forms in and all paperwork in before 9pm on Monday and she will have our new list and area ready for after 10am or so Wednesday. I'm running out of replacement forms and if its true that theres not many left i'll be a bit stuck as i still need to speak to around 150 households grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  • Quick question for the co-ordinators or collectors. Every day so far I've had an email from my co-ordinator with the sheets of properties who have sent their forms back. I haven't had an email today - does this mean that there aren't any produced for a Sunday morning, or have they not come through yet??

Ha ha it's ok, they came through about five mins after I posted my comment. He had a 30 minute lie in as it's Sunday, I can't say I blame him either! Very disappointly small amount of properties on mine today though :-(
  • Can I just ask how soon people got paid for the time we've spent training please. Do we have to submit this as an expense?

I must admit I've been really enjoying myself except when I forgot to take a bottle of water with me yesterday! Off to do some more later.

    Good luck out there everyone.

You're lucky. I haven't had a single update of returns, despite asking. And I don't have an email address for my coordinator just a phone number. They just told me 'there haven't been any more returns in your areas'. If that is the case, which I don't believe for a minute, then something very strange is going on with the timings in getting them processed - as I've had some very anxious members of the public who have clearly posted their forms a while ago (and I can tell they aren't just trying it on) but are still showing up as non-returns.

Apparently we get it included in our first week's money.
