all seems fine at the moment as a collector. Although I wish is was law that all houses have to display their number as well as their house name. Had a street full of house names! nightmare!!!
We have limited supplies of I1s (I have none) everything else fine. Wish we could work tuesdays as it would spread the 25 hours out a bit but I Plan to work most of the weekend to get almost all the 60% out of the way0 -

Why you not allowed to work Tuesdays? We've not been told this, was hoping to get most of my hours done by wed to have thurs and fri off!0 -
Hi all, first post on this thread but I started collecting today and all good, particularly in this fab weather. You can guarantee it'll rain all of Sunday when I'm doing a full day! Has anyone had problems with extranet tonight? I can't get on even with the username and password that worked fine yesterday.
I was just wondering what rate they pay for mileage as have put a couple of claims in today, does anyone know?
Also, I'm planning to work every Tuesday and my co-ordinator said that was fine

that 60% is bollox - how can they track it as there's nothing on the timesheet about start and finish times? and afaik the coordinators aren't entering contact times from the worksheets.
no one's said anything to me about not working tuesdays either.
it might be a good thing if the weather went off a bit - more chance of people being at home. had very few contacts today.0 -
Getting really cross now as still not heard from co-ordinator. I rang payroll late yesterday pm and was told my details are being processed, which can take up to 24 hrs. Was told there are 24,000 people going through this process, and I'm not the only one having this problem - which is no consolation! Having started this process in October and got my contract 3 weeks ago it's now all very last minute and doesn't do much for morale - whatever happened to valuing staff?
I asked whether I will get paid for the 3 days I've wasted waiting in and trying to chase matters up and was told to take it up with my co-ordinator.....oh, I nearly forgot - I haven't got one yet
Would like to put in a grievance, but this has to go to your line manager i.e. co-ordinator. What a ridiculous system.0 -
I am a collector and co-ordinator has said that he has to collect everyones sheets on a Tuesday and then give out new updated sheets on a Wednesday, so that will be why other collectors have been asked not to work Tuesdays.0

Just to confirm the process is in chaos:-
I was on the reserve list (applied early November 2010) and have been offered a job! The problems are that the classroom training is today, yes the 9th. April when I should have started on the 6th. April. I have to submit the two references, photos, ID documents and get my CRB cleared. Bearing in mind this will take at least 10 working days for the CRB check I should be able to start work sometime in late April perhaps for a week or so. So that's 5 months waiting around for a week's work!0 -

On Wednesday you will be issued with a new workbook. Obviously there has to be a cut-off point in order for the QT to be updated on Tuesday and a new workbook printed on Wednesday morning.
Clearly if collectors are out in the field all day tuesday and do not get their completed workbooks to their coordinator before the cut-off point, the work completed that day will not show on the QT and consequently the new workbooks will not be as accurate as they could be.
It is up to the cordinator to decide how best to manage this issue.
One way around it is to encourage collectors not to work in the field on a tueday and ask the collectors to use their allocated hours to get their completed workbooks to their coordinator for the QT to be updated in readyness for wednesdays new workload.
Also, not all coordinators will be aware of this development yet - depends on how regularly their area manager cascades updates to the team.
Challenges will enevitably arise during follow-up, managment and RMT will obviously need to take measures to deal with tese situations as they crop up. This is why it is important for all census staff to be flexible as much as possible.
hmmm an evening early in the week is prime time to catch people at home in my areas! i'm not working my areas in the evenings thu/fri/sat - i point blank refuse as it's a bit dodgy. ah well, if i'm told not to then so be it.0
