2 phone calls this morning - dentist and Dad! No contact from co-ordinator. I tried emailing the Census Recruitment Team yesterday and again today, but still no response. In desperation I've submitted a mileage claim for the training to see if that triggers anything.

Has anyone been able to access the 2011 Census staff website on extranet? When I enter my username and password (which works for iWeb) nothing happens - it just loops back to the logon page again. Any ideas?

Your co-ordinator gives you the password for that one.
• I'm in the same boat as a lot of people in this forum - I've done everything as and when they've told me to do it, I completed the classroom training a week last Monday and accepted the contract of employment as soon as it came through. I am now waiting to hear of my co-ordinator when to start work.

One thing that I cannot seem to be able to do though is log onto iWeb. I know it says to use the same username and password as throughout the recruitment process but it doesn't seem to be allowing me to get on there even though the same log in details are letting me onto the census jobs website. Any advice?

Thanks,
KLJ

Still not heard anything yet. I don't even have access to iWeb to pass the time away! My classroom training was over 2 weeks ago and the CRB checks over 3 weeks ago. I am going to log the saga of this onto a spreadsheet for myself as I feel it might help when on the phone to complain, dates etc. I do want to stay positive - re reading the handbooks etc but the enthusiam is being sapped out now especially as the weather is good and could be getting on with it. The area I have applied for is a mix of nice suburbs with a hint of city.
I am now making myself a mini first aid kit of plasters, cream, wipes. (I know my feet!) I'm also looking more closely at my A -Z for potentially tricky areas and have my mobile and car topped up and I have been collecting small change for car parking. So any tips from active collectors are welcome.

Wow!! Sounds like you're amazingly well prepared!!! All I thought about packing apart from my purse and my phone was a bottle of water lol!! I started collecting yesterday and am going out again today.

As for advice...well I'm still not sure what I'm doing myself but I will say this, when you collect your bag from your co-ordinator make sure you check it before you leave....I was missing a telephone contact sheet and follow up cards!!

When you're out and about make sure you know where the nearest toilets are!!

Other than that I don't really have anymore advice. I had a good day yesterday and the people I met were friendly...I'm hoping for more of the same today.

Still waiting. Just rang the payroll helpline and a very helpful young man gave me the email address census.payroll@capita.co.uk and told me to email them with my collection area and my employee number, and they should be able to get my co-ordinator to contact me today. May be worth a try for anyone still waiting.

Me too, as per my previous posts, they kept me waiting so long after they accepted me, that I turned them down weeks ago..............depsite that in the post today arrived a very expensive looking 164 page bound "Census Collector Instructions"........wonder how many others have been sent out and wasted?? They must have cost a fortune to produce, let alone post. The communcation and performance of Capita is shocking. No wonder this countrys in such a state when we waste so much tax payers money funding a hopeless case such as Capita:mad:

• Today I've had an email acknowledging my reference and CRB application and telling me that the latter will take (on average) 10 days to process.

At this rate, I'll be lucky to get 2 weeks work.

I wonder if they realise the effect of this long extended process is having on collector morale?
