  • You should get a 'completion payment' so long as you don't resign before the end of your contract. Whether this is dependent on meeting any targets I don't know - as a co-ordinator we haven't been told any of the specifics of the contracts of Collectors.

Edited to add - dou jyr is also correct - the completion payment is dependent on you returning your kit and any excess supplies when you leave

You also get a telephone allowance for calls you have to make from your own phone - again I don't know how much this is - we haven't been told.

The whole process of applying, testing, interviewing and training has gone very smoothly. I've been kept informed the whole way, started work without a hitch and have enjoyed the last 5 weeks of Special Enumerator work. In February I (successfully) applied for a CSS interviewer role, and again the whole recruitment process has been totally straightforward. Colleagues that I have been working with have had a similarly good experience. :)
Your experience relates to the role of special enumerator which there were far fewer of in total and hence which even Capita's non localised remote outsourced style of project management was probably able to cope with. Also there was no element of messing around with proceeding with the employment of special enumerators depending on how submission of census returns actually went. The reason there was so much uncertainty about the actual likely submission rate was presumably because they felt the ability to submit the census return online for the first time would mean that far more people might feel it was a fun thing to do and so not put it off in the way they would with a paper form.

However I don't think your experiences as a special enumerator can in any way be translated to the many adverse experiences reported here of applicants for the role of Collector which there are far more of and which Capita have messed around with not properly employing until the 11th hour in order to save as much money as possible. Note in particular that Capita can mess as many people around as they like with the online application, Siftability test and online learning with no cost at all on their side and with all the cost falling only on the applicant unless they subequently manage to actually obtain employment as a Collector.

To be honest given your sole apparent mission here of heaping praise on Capita as a completely brand new forum member who has only signed up to the MoneySavingExpert forum today its rather tempting to believe that either you or one of your relatives may perhaps work for their Public Relations department.;):p

Anyhow we had our first meeting and in my area we are very sort of collectors so I would say if you're on a reserve list and still interested there might be a chance you will get a call.
    Good luck to us all!

I had my first meeting yesterday and my coordinator was telling us that there are a few people who she has badges for but no contact details as they haven't come through the system yet!

And I have only been recruited in the last 2 weeks, had a mad dash through getting references/training when I applied in January!

Still waiting for contact. I'm not blaming the co-ordinator as it's possible my details have not got through to them yet. Capita's system seems to be at fault here. What's the point of a helpline if they are not able to help - just telling you to be patient. I had hoped that logging on to iWeb and filling in my bank details yesterday afternoon would have triggered some response, but no such luck.

    Getting seriously fed up now.

Hey guys, does anyone know the address we're supposed to send our P46 to? Can't find it anywhere on the website, and they won't pay us without it!

First day went ok, co-ordinator seems switched on, he said that they have been messed around no end by Capita, and he may get more collectors on board, but is waiting for them to let him know.

I think I read somewhere that your co-ordinator will let you have the address where to send the P46, so it's best to have a word with them.

I have phoned today regarding the delay etc. and it seems that its the CRB checks are taking longer than expected and that I will be contacted soon, probably today. The lady on the phone was apologetic and reassured me that I wasn't the only one. Hope that helps other peeps.
