Today I've had an email acknowledging my reference and CRB application and telling me that the latter will take (on average) 10 days to process.

At this rate, I'll be lucky to get 2 weeks work.

I wonder if they realise the effect of this long extended process is having on collector morale?

I applied in september and passed all tests etc and tel interview, and was told it would be working from feb to may. Months later when they eventually offered me the job it was for less than 4 weeks, by which time I ihad got fixed up elsewhere.....see post above also. Hope you get sorted soon ;)

Had my meeting and the blank forms are due to be delivered to me tomorrow, then I'll be able to go out. Wouldn't have happened unless I'd emailed FenF's lead.

Glad you have finally got sorted out. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting.....

Your experience relates to the role of special enumerator which there were far fewer of in total and hence which even Capita's non localised remote outsourced style of project management was probably able to cope with. Also there was no element of messing around with proceeding with the employment of special enumerators depending on how submission of census returns actually went. The reason there was so much uncertainty about the actual likely submission rate was presumably because they felt the ability to submit the census return online for the first time would mean that far more people might feel it was a fun thing to do and so not put it off in the way they would with a paper form.

However I don't think your experiences as a special enumerator can in any way be translated to the many adverse experiences reported here of applicants for the role of Collector which there are far more of and which Capita have messed around with not properly employing until the 11th hour in order to save as much money as possible. Note in particular that Capita can mess as many people around as they like with the online application, Siftability test and online learning with no cost at all on their side and with all the cost falling only on the applicant unless they subequently manage to actually obtain employment as a Collector.

To be honest given your sole apparent mission here of heaping praise on Capita as a completely brand new forum member who has only signed up to the MoneySavingExpert forum today its rather tempting to believe that either you or one of your relatives may perhaps work for their Public Relations department.;):p

Hi NGM, I haven't heaped praise on Capita, merely reported that in my experience they did a great job. I may be new to the forum and hold an opposing view to yours but my input is still valid. :)

I couldn't agree more dou jyr - I've been out for 6 hours today, the weather has been perfect collecting weather, part of one of my routes is right on the seafront, so I made the most of that, I can tell you. And like you, I've not had anyone be rude to me. Actually I'm putting that down to the weather too, when it's sunny it brings out the best in all of us I reckon. Let's hope the weather stays nice and sunny all weekend and into next week.

If anyone is short of an ID card you can have mine. I have been asked 3 times to send in a photo and photocopies of ID docs for 3 different roles. Co-ordinator collector and ccs interviewer with no come back.
I did the e-learning for standby ccs interviewer yesterday the email said I should go to a training day on 28 apr- does anyone know where they are? Nothing on the email for me to look at.
This appears to be standard practice nowadays - I applied for a job at ASDA and was invited for an "ASDA magic" session. After selecting a time I was sent an email which said.

This is just to remind you that you are booked to attend our .

The event will take place on at and will be held at .

We look forward to meeting you on the day.

    Yours sincerely

Obviously this is the first test and the census people are using that tact.

Could someone give me the address of the staff website, please? My co-ordinator has given me the username and password, but I can't find the site to log in! Thanks in advance.

Ask your co-ordinator- that is why they get paid more.

I had a follow up email after I did the E learning with details of where the classroom training is. Mine is local but then I live in a city.

You won't have been given and ID card because you havn't attended an induction.

I was being sarcastic, if I do get a job they will have 3 copies of my picture and they will undoubtedly lose them and ask for more.
