I start my Special enumerator role on Monday but was a bit surprised that the introduction meeting to hand out equipment etc.. is 1pm-4pm especially as a lot of candidates are parents looking to work during the school day, evenings and weekends, luckily I have childcare but thought it a little strange to do it right across school pick up time.
Looking forward to getting started though - anyone else starting Monday?

I have done all my e-learning and sent off the ID and reference part. Just waiting for my 'school' afternoon and hoping that everything checks out ok for them and then that's a month work for me as a census collector :)

It did take ages to get any e-mails but all of a sudden everything is needed! They don't give you long to get ID photocopied and photos taken do they?! LOL

Mine is tomorrow 2-4pm also. I don't have childcare on a Monday so won't be working during the day. The Co-ordinator was a bit off with me when I rang to say I would be there but to bear in mind I won't be working from 3-5 as I have no chilcare! I worked out it really wouldn't be worth it if I put 2 in after school clubs (not that I could for 6 weeks, they have waiting lists!!) and a baby in nursery.

I then emailed her to clarify when I would and wouldn't be able to work and she replied saying I'm sure we can work around it. Probably didn't want to lose someone at the last minute!!

Bearing in mind with all of this I got the letter on Friday to confirm the meeting on Monday, nothing like short notice!

Anyway hope it all goes well tomorrow, looking forward to seeing which establishments I've got.

Any other Special Enumerators have yet to be contacted regarding their first meeting?.
  • I had my interview for the role of Census Collector in January, was told I'd know the outcome within 3 weeks, and STILL haven't heard anything. Despite phoning for 3 weeks in a row, I've been given the same answer, which is that they are finalising the selection. I'm now in 2 minds whether to take the position at all now, assuming they do offer it to me. It's a total shambles from what I can see.

    Hi lambourne here
just to say that having had my interview for collector job on 16th November I still have not been told whether I have a job. I did write to them and that prompted a telephone call from the supervisor I had asked to ring me a month earlier all she could say was that I hadn't been ruled out. She did say that the process was taking so long many people are dropping out. I feel it is an absolute disgrace how eople (not number real flesh and blood people) such as myself arre being treated. It has now got to the stage where I don't want to work for an organisation that is so disrespectful and treats applicants with such contempt but as a matter of principle I will see this through. I come from a project management background and whoever project managed this should be sacked immediately.
p.s. just received my own census form in the post!

I am one of the Census Coordinators, and would like to think you will all be treated better when you start work, as it will be us managing your work not Capita!

Unfortunately we have been told to hold the regular Wednesday meetings at 2pm. I told my area manager that I am expecting to have a lot of parents needing to do the school run, and would hence hold my meeting earlier. Although it cant be before about 12, as we have a lot of work to do before the meeting - printing off workloads and such that cannot be done the night before.

I was told that this might cause a problem as your contracts don't expect you to start until 2pm...

Today is the start day for SE's but I haven't heard about my meeting yet. Census Collectors start later on don't they. BTW my class training was two weeks ago.

I received my census form today and completed it on-line. Those recruited will be chasing up the more recalcitrant. Good luck with that. ;)
