    Hi All,

Anyone know how much tax you will pay doing the Collector role? I've earned 34k so far this year so i'm not really sure it'll be worth doing @ £7.41/hr!!!

    Thanks in advance.......MjH

It starts (if you start on the 6th April) in the new tax year, but if its your 2nd job I believe you get taxed 40% on it regardless.

Check www.listentotaxman.com as to how much tax you would pay on it.

  • Like a lot of others, since my telephone interview in late November all I have had to my enquiries is e-mails "we will contact you shortly / in 2 to 3 weeks". I have just received an offer of full time Census Collector but decided not to accept because the recruitment was so disorganised. Anyway, I have e-mailed Capita that I may have other commitments for April but that I will contact them again in 2 to 3 weeks to let them know if I will be available. My wife is also waiting to hear and was promised more information by 23rd Feb - still waiting ....

    *Update*

Yesterday I finally got a conditional offer from C(r)aptia for a Census Collector role, 15 hours per week, 6/4/11 to 6/5/11.

My telephone interview took place in late November.

I hope the recruitment process isn't a harbinger of things to come while working for them!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well done :rotfl:- I am still waiting but have now decided that I am not going to take it even if they offer, as it will probably only be for 4 weeks and my kids will be off for 2 weeks of that on their Easter hols......

They must be slowly moving on to the other roles too as i've just had my interview for the census interviewer role about an hour ago and they will let mw know in the next 2-3 weeks. I've still not been told for sure that I have the census collector role. I think I might fall off my chair when I do finally find out if i have the collectors role after applying 4 months ago (the beginning of November). Must say I have never known anything like it!

I have just received 3 emails stating I have been successful in gaining the role of census collector. Starting the 6h Aril until 6h May for 25hrs a week.
I have to provide the names of my references, copies of lots of ID and complete the e-learning.
Not sure if I want to do it now, but need the extra money so will take it forward and see how I feel nearer the time.
    Anyone else been accepted?
  • I'm still waiting to hear. I've given up emailing, as all I get is the stock response, with no sign that anyone is actually reading the emails.

    Useless bunch!

I dread to think what the job will be like, if the recruitment is an indication of how effective they are!

Kassi, i've been given the census collectors job as long as i pass all the references etc. As long as everything is ok (it should be tbh, apart from it taking a few attempts at the quiz thing) then I should hopefully going to training soon, but it took a few attempts at the online quiz thing as you have to get i think it was nearly 80% (i did it a few weeks back) and so i'm not sure. Its a long time waiting though, and like others have said I hope we get more support on the job than what we have had while waiting to find out if we have the job!
