This has to be the most disorganised recruitment process ever. I wonder how much us the tax payer has had to pay to Capita for this process. I have been waiting ages and keep getting e-mails saying there has been a delay. I have been through the interview stage and rang a few days ago to be told that they were about to process the applications beginning with F very soon and the ones that have been sucessful will know within a few days and apparently it will be 2 -3 weeks before they let the unsucessful ones know:mad:
  • Had my offer last week for cenus collector. Printed off the two packs (over 200) pages and decided its not for me. Send my email this morning to withdraw my interest. Let someone else do it that really needs the money.

    Applied 9th. November
Telephone Interview (lasted 2mins) 23rd. November
Might get an answer for the 2021 census!!
Even if I'm offered the job tomorrow, the CRB check won't be back for the start on the 21st. March
Starting to wonder if the recruitment process is this poor will the actual job be any better supported.
  • 2021! you'll be lucky, this government is scrapping them after this year. Shame for family tree hunters there'll be nothing to look at after the 2011 is published in 100 years time:(
    GC - Oct £36.17/£31
    GC - Sep £35.56/£30:o
    GC - Aug £30.73/£31
    GC - Jul £30.80/£31

I'm beginning to think it's not for me either! What were the two packs about? 200 pages is costly on printing and when you consider the time already spent on the online testing it's a bit cheeky isn't it? Maybe they are setting the 2011 up to fail.......
  • I was offered a position as a census collector on Thursday last week but will be dropping out.
The email gave 48 hours to get references in, 3 days to complete online training and 4 days to send a photo and photocopies of documents. Didn't leave much time considering how long they took to send out offers, but I got it all done. This morning though I received an email asking me to book onto a classroom training course. Checked the details and my options were Luton, Isle of Wight or Cantebury ... I live in West Berks so any of those options would involve hours of travel. I only applied for 15 hours a week as I work full time. To attend training, I'd have to book a day off work and I just don't want to. It's really not worth it to me.
But seriously ... how could they possibly not have any training closer. Just ridiculous!!
Sounds like they'll be losing quite a few people from the posts above.

Sounds like the Scottish Cencus planning is going a lot more smoothly than south of the border!

I applied for the job of Cencus Enumerator. Closing date was 21st Jan. I got an email on 23rd Jan asking me for an interview on 29th Jan. Got offered job 31st Jan and asked to send Basic Disclosure to them and details of training day on 1st March.

Hope things pick up a bit for everyone waiting on an answer!

Its a joke, and then possibly send you for training somewhere else in the country at your own expense for now. Im not sure the organisation in the recruitment procedure gives me any re assurance of what the actual job will be like, and if getting paid for it will be just as messy!

I got a reply like that.

Except March 5th replaced by "soon"

Starting to think I wouldn't want to accept anyway. Although probably will be rejected now:rotfl:
  • Just a heads up, this might make the job a little more difficult. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/feb/19/census-boycott-lockheed-martin
