Four months to the day since my interview for the collectors role and still heard nothing!

Capita have had this contract for the last two and a half years and here we are, 17 days from the Census with lots of people still not knowing what is happening. This is not the way to treat people!!:mad:

After eventually receiving the offer of Census Collector I emailed Capita on 7th March to turn it down (due to the appalling recruitment process). Two days later I received an email confirming my application for work was being withdrawn and that a further email would be sent to confirm that; (not sure why they need to confirm it twice but there you are). Just over an hour later I received another email asking for my ID documents! A phone call this morning confirmed my application has been cancelled. This afternoon I received another email asking for ID documents, complete the e-learning and book a training session! (Rearrange into a well known phrase "left hand right hand is doing doesn't know what")

During the phone call this morning I also found out that job applicants are listed in order of "merit", so even if you meet all the criteria to do the job you still won't be offered a job straight away in case someone with higher merit turns up. I wonder if they have an equal opportunities target to meet?

I got a yes today, I had to provide a reference to become collector. Offers are coming thru.

Interesting. I don't suppose there was any inkling of what things were considered meritorious?

It really is going to be interesting to see them do all the stuff they need to do before the start dates stated. They're approaching with the rapidity of a very large tidal wave, and I get the feeling the result is going to be just as disasterous!

I've got my classroom halfday on Tuesday. Reading some of the stories on here fills me with dread!

The Scotland one has already been recruited. Its a different role up here for enumerators and contracts started 28/2 and has been recruited via GROS. Very professionally done too!

Check out the GROS website as they may still be looking for non compliance type roles....

And given the pile of c##p that is the recruitment process, and the number of people who will have given up and found something else, the odds are even better.
