let me nswer a few of the points raised i nthe last few posts.
1.) I have not told any of my family of friends about the site. Why? Because if its one thing i have learnt is you dont do business with friends or family. If they find it by other means then thats fine, but i dont want them to know its my site as it would only cause problems.
2.) getting 500 peope or businesses will not be that hard if i am honest. There are plenty of businesses and powersellers out there that would love to list for free. All it will cost them is a little bit of time.
Remember these items will be things they have in stock all the time,Or cars,Bikes etc etc. Not your everyday items.
3.) Paypal is available on my site. Outside of Ebay this is a very good payment method.
4.) Martindow:- The payment without the PP fee is about £65 as stated in my post.
5.) CrowQueen:- you said this :- The only time I will bid is if I know what price it will go for anyway and that is cheaper than the current Amazon marketplace price.
So you have admitted that you will buy the cheaper item. THATS what my site is aiming towards. Also if you get rid of the auction format then it basically becomes a store.i want to have a mix of Fixed (BIN) & Auctions.
6.) Custardy :- if you were presented with a possible fake item what would you to to resolve it? You have to give the person a chance to redeem themselves. You cannot just close peoples account without the relevant proof can you. I dont want fakes on my site and i will do EVERYTHING to stop them being sold. i would happily give the name and address of the fraudster to the police or trading standards no problem. I will not have customer being sold fakes. Ebay is rife with it.
This is a catch 22 really. Buyers wont go to and empty site and seller wont sell if there is no buyers.
From all of the market reaserch i am doing i still think it will work.It just seems alien to most folk that you would charge a fee to the buyer.
Well if thats the case then the seller can say We pay the buyer fee. Use it as a sales advantage.;)0 -
So all I am saving by using your site is a few pence ebay fees and as you charge the buyer and suggest it is a good idea for sellers to offer to pay the fees I am paying a fee anyway.
Can you not see that this makes your idea no better than Ebid or Priceminster. Priceminster is big so has that advantage over you, ebid is cheaper..so again I ask why would buyers pay more on your site?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would also point out that you keep changing your target market. You told me in an earlier post that I am not the sort of seller you are trying to attract as I obviously have a successful business on ebay. You answered someone else by saying it is for smaller sellers who feel that ebay is too expensive but now you contradict yourself by your lineThere are plenty of businesses and powersellers out there that would love to list for free. All it will cost them is a little bit of time.
Remember these items will be things they have in stock all the time,Or cars,Bikes etc etc. Not your everyday items.
So ar eyou now saying you actually want sellers like me who are actually happy to pay ebay fees because stuff actually sells.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No i think YOU fail to grasp the Concept.:o
Ok lets say then you sell 1000 items at £10.00 each with 5 photos on Ebay & E-bid
Ebay would cost you:-
Listing fee 61p
Ebay FVF £1.00
(paypal fee is ONLY 54p btw)
Ebid would cost you:-
Listing Fee £0
Ebid FVF 30p
My site:-
Listing fee £0
My FVF £0
Buyer fee 10p
So Ebay costs you £1610 Ebid costs £300 Mine Costs £0, even if you wanted to pay the buyer fee for them it still only would cost you £100 a saving of £200.
So i HAVE saved YOU money. No matter which way you look at it i have done this.
You item you have on Ebay and ebid you would be able in theory to list on my site for £9.80. And again no matter how you look at it this is cheaper than on Ebay or Ebid. Its what you see with your eyes that matter not what you may think.
And i cannot honestly believe that if you operate a business you would not offer to pay for the fee yourself. This gives the customer more confidence in buying from you rather than someone who has not offered.
So if you dont mind paying fees to llist items then this would not be a problem for you. But you could still list the items for less than elsewhere.:D
it is no different to how new car sales are done. they offer you 1 years free insurnce. Now normally you would pay it (buy car then bu insurance) but THEY will pay your insurnace if you buy the car.
The same would be for you. You would offer to pay the fee for the customer so he/she thinks they are getting an ever better deal on the already lower price they found.0 -

No you are correct. You are not what i am after. You have said yourself you would not pay the fee.You are clearly against it judging by all of your negative comments. but thats ok you are entitled to them.See the other problem by me not charging the seller is that peole then drop the prices even more. Businesses like yourself cant do this as you will have a bottom line on your product. By having seller fees limits this.
Dont get me wrong i know it is a different way to do an auction site but its what i am sticking with.
The other thing i will add is that fixed price auctions will also incurr more of a fee for the seller.
£10.00 BIN item on ebay is £1.75 in fees. my site Still 10p for the buyer.
As i have said the main point of my auction site is to SAVE money. And that is what it WILL do.:D0 -

it wouldnt cost soolin anything on ebid
as she hasnt sold anything on ebid
so on eBay she is in profit over ebid regardless of their fee's
your site doesnt exist so as it stands would be no better than ebid and nothing you have posted has said different0 -

My site does exist it is 100% real. Its just that i have not advertised it yet as i am still working on things on the site.it wouldnt cost soolin anything on ebid
as she hasnt sold anything on ebid

Your figures BTW are wrong,laying4profit wrote: »No i think YOU fail to grasp the Concept.:o

.
.
My £10 item would cost me 25p listing fees, no extra fees as I use photobucket to host photos , FVFs are around 68p (I am a TRS)£10.00 BIN item on ebay is £1.75 in fees. my site Still 10p for the buyer.
Sorry but no. 40p to list on BIN and i only use a bIN if i have multiple items. I have one at the moment with 50 items included. Less FVFs of around 9% less TRS discount of 20%.
So you are now saying you want small private sellers who probably use the FLD on ebay to list so all they are saving is the FVFs, yes?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. one thing I would say, is that this site would/could attract 'new' sellers as there are no listing fee's and that's a huge bonus for people who haven't sold any item before and want to test the waters.
I might suggest to the OP that they provide tutorials as such for the users and friendly advice, perhaps even a forum or advice board. I'm sure the OP already knows this, but to attract traffic of any kind (even if it is spiders) a website needs content and links.0
