Groceries deliveries with the weather, good and bad

  • My Asda shopping was delivered too! It was a bit of a palarva though as the driver couldn't drive down the hill to get to my property and then ignored my instructions on how to drive around to get there. I have my own entrance at the back of the house.

In the end, I had to carry it down said icy hill in two big trips to get my shopping to my property whilst he paced outside of his van! I'm glad I've got my shopping but I think I will stick to Tesco in future.

But it is ludicrous to suggest that they only train JUST enough staff to cover in ordinary circumstances. That means that online services can't be maintained if there is an outbreak of flu at the store, or some such.
To my mind, it shows a lack of commitment to the service thay are offering.

Hmm. I'm not expecting a sainsbury's driver to risk death. But the roads between the store and our house are all main roads, our road was cleared and gritted. UPS happily delivered the computer I was expecting, in a much bigger vehicle than the sainsbury's truck.
I used to live in the middle of the Peak District, 1 mile off road. I would expect not to receive a delivery there. but in suburban Nottingham, it's bloody poor service... end-of.

I live in Suburban Birmingham and had exactly the same thing on Friday night.

Our road were clear (we have barely had any snow here), yet i was phone 3 hour before delivery to be told the order had been canceklled. No offer of an alternative date.

So my wife went out to the Northfield store to do the shopping, and whilst checking out politely enquired when they had stopped delivering.

To say she was shocked when they told her they were still delivering is an understatement. Apparently our shopping is delivered from Oldbury (5 1/2 miles away from my house). Sainsburys own store locator lists no less that 5 "Superstores" closer than Oldbury (Northfield is 1.2 miles away)

So now it seems that we are not only at the mercy of the weather near my house, but also 5.5 miles away.

This is not acceptable, e-mail sent to customer services, I don`t expect a reply.

We had our Asda delivery cancelled last wednesday, when the snow was at it's worst which was fair enough. Unusually for Asda they actually rang to let me know too. A little off topic but Tesco failed to deliver my wine oreder scheduled for Friday despite texting numerous times to say they were on their way and runnung late, never got a text to say sorry not now delivering or a call. Chased up Saturday got £5 off and told would be delivered that day still didn't arrive and no call or nothing, chased up Sunday and told would be delivered Monday but failed to arrive with no call or text apologising. Chased up Monday and told it would be here today, still waiting as I'm typing this. And another rant is that I've only had one postal delivery over the past 7 days, expecting quite a few urgent postal items and beginning to get frustrated.:mad::mad::mad:
  • My Asda home delivery was cancelled this morning. I was offered the option of rescheduling until Saturday but I told them this was too late.
In any case, I only booked with ASDA as Tesco didn't have any slots available. I've had numerous problems with Asda home delivery so I don't think I'll be using them again.
Instead I went the 3 miles to the nearest ASDA and it took me 4 hours to get there and back with the icy roads and tail-backs :(

  • My Tesco order for today got cancelled, no new slots available until a week tomorrow!
To be fair they'd never have got here though, conditions in Glasgow are horrendous.

the only thing im annoyed about is why they are still letting people place orders when they know they wont deliver them

Second Tesco delivery slot cancelled. Originally ordered for last Friday, cancelled and rebooked for today. Today's cancelled and the earliest slot was next Thursday, pretty much two weeks after the original order was placed.

Not nearly good enough considering I'll probably be able to drive to Tesco come Monday. Well they can go !!!! themselves, I'm going to Asda.

My recent Tesco's order was returned to their depot after payment had been taken, due to the weather - that was their excuse anyway...

I was refunded £20.00 more than they took, I think the difference was that I paid for it at the total cost including a number of multi buy discounts, but each item was refunded at the full price.

Sainsbury's had no problems delivering to me a couple of days later in much worse weather so I will be ordering from them in future and view the £20.00 as compensation for Tesco's messing me about.

  • My neighbour is an Iceland delivery man and he's been out despite the snow... On Monday evening he got stuck and the customer got her neighbours rallied round to give him a push!
