Well after the fiasco with asda i tried tesco and despite the slight price difference i'll be shopping with them from now on! Not only did they turn up, but they were friendly too.
It was the opposite for me. Tesco cancelled my order on Wednesday so I've decided to order my shopping with Asda for Monday. Time will tell whether they will cancel or not.Competition Wins:

sainsburys rang me this morning to cancel my 12-1 delivery.
we are pretty snowed in here to be fair, havnt had milkman or post since tuesday
went back on the site and couldnt easily press a button to rebook the whole lot and there were no slots till end of the week. same with asda so have got tesco booked for wed.0 -
Tesco delivered early, they rang to ask as they were trying to catch up with a backlog of deliveries and had more in our area booked for earlier.0

Derby, Tesco (i think deliveries come from Toton, Notts) -
i had a slot booked for last Monday 6pm-8pm & the driver rang at about 6.10pm to advise he wouldn't make it. 20 mins on hold to CS but they re-booked for the following day 11am-1pm. (credit card credited within 1 day)
9am on Tues & tesco rang to advise all deliveries had been cancelled. also got a recorded message call later in the day to advise the same thing. (didn't even get to the point of being billed on my credit card for this one)
didn't bother trying to re-book, just did a new online order for tomorrow 11am-1pm (when the driver rang he said that daytime deliveries were mostly ok, anything after 3pm was getting cancelled due to traffic/conditions getting worse).
all the main roads are clear & we're only 10 mins off one of the main routes into Derby, so i live in hope & have my fingers crossed i get to see a Mr T van sometime tomorrow!0 -

I am also in Derby but my delivery was cancelled on Wednesday. I didn't receive a phone call, however, I did get a text after midnight on the same day saying it was cancelled.
I hope my Asda delivery comes tomorrow!Competition Wins:

My Tesco delivery was due between 5 and 7pm yesterday. The driver called at 4.15pm and asked if he could deliver in the next 10 minutes. I said of course
He was lovely, very friendly and he was chuffed that we had cleared a path though the snow for him. He had helped bag up our delivery too as apparently they had just had a delivery of carrier bags. They were running short as people had been into the stores panic buying and they had run out of bags! We were very pleased with Tescos service yet again. Btw we are near Huddersfield. :hello:

Hey all
As someone who works for Sainsburys Online, let me quickly explain why they and other supermarkets cancel orders for no reason sometimes.
Sainsburys deliver from a local superstore, but it might not be the one close to you! It could be the next towns store. Also not all sainsburys staff are online trained. They cannot just pull people off the shop floor to shop. There training involved and cost. So if you don't have your shopper team turning up for work, the shopping can't be done.
Drivers are even rarer, sainsburys train drivers and its expensive! We have driving courses so there usually only enough drivers in for the vans daily. If all the local drivers are in but say two who lives out of town can't make it in, then you can run out! Often they send drivers out in pairs, to help get the van unstuck, that's one less driver per van.
To keep costs down, all supermarkets use the least amount of staff possible. Online suffers as it often requires special trained staff sometimes more training than the shop floor staff.
It's really unlucky some people stuffer because they can't get out etc but consider a thought for your next delivery driver, he might've came from a country lane risking his life in a 3.5 tonne van just to give you your food in icy conditions. If he makes it hat off to him, but no supermarket will risk the press of having a driver killed in bad weather because they forced him out to drive.0 -

But it is ludicrous to suggest that they only train JUST enough staff to cover in ordinary circumstances. That means that online services can't be maintained if there is an outbreak of flu at the store, or some such.
To my mind, it shows a lack of commitment to the service thay are offering. It's really unlucky some people stuffer because they can't get out etc but consider a thought for your next delivery driver, he might've came from a country lane risking his life in a 3.5 tonne van just to give you your food in icy conditions. Hmm. I'm not expecting a sainsbury's driver to risk death. But the roads between the store and our house are all main roads, our road was cleared and gritted. UPS happily delivered the computer I was expecting, in a much bigger vehicle than the sainsbury's truck.
I used to live in the middle of the Peak District, 1 mile off road. I would expect not to receive a delivery there. but in suburban Nottingham, it's bloody poor service... end-of.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.
