Evening
Thankfully what little snow we did get at the weekend is all but away bar the odd chunk of ice but our square was just a sheet of ice! DS1 brought a couple of bags of salt home from work and scattered it about so hopefully that will have gone too now.
Came home from work and make leek & potato soup and while that was cooking I've made pastry and assembled two steak pies from the braised beef left over from yesterday which the lads can have with beans.
Got a phone call from Mr T direct to say I hadn't collect an order from my local extra store....I'd forgotten about it!!
Anyone know how I will get bananas to ripen? the ones delivered yesterday are very green and DS-S said they were 'raw' lol

I am stressed to hell......woman altering my dress is stranded in Ripon with my dress:eek: less than a week to wedding, no dress, no veil,no cake, no hairdresser, both sets of parents maybe cant get and I am snowed in with mr flappy:eek:
I don't have any advice other than not to panic.
Can you re-arrange another date IF necessary. I know it would be a total PITA but is it possible?
Does anyone have any vague idea about the weather for next week? I thought maybe by the weekend a thaw was on the way (or maybe I just imagined that).I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

NoahsPennilessMummy: as far as I'm aware, the weather'll get better by Friday this week, so keep your fingers crossed! I'm not that far away from you in the Hope Valley and I do sympathise with your situation, but always remember that cities are warmer than the countryside and so a thaw should happen faster.
Today has been a lazy day; out with the doggo first thing then doing as little as possible; I've started MIL's cross stitch and have made lentil soup with left overs,so very OS :j
I also heard from the OH :j:j. I hadn't expected it at all and had just spoken to his best mate who said not to expect to hear from him for another 14 days . His friend also offered to come over in his Range Rover if I needed anything foodwise, and will in any circumstance come over and see me next week to keep me company!
It's still snowing here in my part of the Peak District and the village is still blocked off. The heating's on full, but due to the wine I've had, it's going to be turned down a bit :rotfl:
Hope everyone's keeping warm and safe in this weather.

Congratulations Bramble1, I love to hear about folk getting a job especially in this climate of job losses well done .
my DD came and put my dekkies up for me on the way home from work bless her .She did early shift this morning which meant she had to be in by 6.30. yet she still came to make sure the tree was up and my decorations were as well on the way home from work at 5.30.I am so lucky to have such smashing DDs.My eldest has her birthday tomorrow and I expect she will pop down as I can't get out because of the snow. She is off at the moment because her school is closed .DGS Danny managed to make it home from Hatfield tonight (he had to stay at a hotel last night because of lack of trains., but at least his boss paid for him )
I have got one of those nasty head colds which means I can't stop sneezing and my nose is running like a river.I am sitting here with my eyes watering and I'm hoping as its the second day it will dry up tomorrow.I am due to be going to France for a day trip on Saturday so hopefully the snow will ease off by then.I'm off to bed now to dose myself up and have a read.Hope we are all keeping in the warm. Not snowing at the moment but more is forecast overnight.
good night God bless all here

Congrats on the job Bramble, read about it while I was at work, but am always a bit scared of signing in and posting, dunno why, only me and another know how the magic of the server/internet works and we wouldn't tell on each other
NPM think I am saying this for everyone, we really feel for you, not nice situation to be in a week before your wedding! Can you colour your hair yourself? or get a friend to do it. The dress, well yes that is NOT good, but, if worse happens, do you have an outfit that means something to you and OH, ie you wore it when....1st date....night out that was great, if nothing like that, just get something local that you feel is you.
If you have to go ahead with bad hair, no dress, no cake, guests missing, it will still be your special day, it will be the day that you and your OH are married and what can be more special than that? and you can have another special day where you dress up in the clothes you should have worn, have the cake and big party where everyone can come.....on the other hand.....there are a lot on this thread who would come on sledges to make the numbers up :rotfl::rotfl:
JackieO, hope your cold gets better soon.
Well I went to the dentist, he was really lovely, kept asking if I was ok, I obviously looked as terrified as I felt :rotfl:it hurt a lot when the injection wore off, but I managed the day at work, originally I should have been off but my manager booked 2 weeks off AFTER my 3 days had been approved and they were worried that there would not be anyone in to do the mopping up of the wages, cue manager standing in front of me with wide eyes saying the boss was concerned....cue me saying, ok I will change my day, still, it means I am now off till Tuesday.
We got our new-to-us car today, I am not a car person but its big and shiney, and a 4 x 4, OH is like a little kid what with all the snow about.
cyas soon, sleep tight and keep warm xxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

hello all, hope you don't mind me poking my head round the door!
We've got about 2ft of snow lying here so I've not been out today. Had roast lamb for dinner today that I froze about a month ago, glad I stocked up the freezer but it's only small so I'm running a bit low already  Might try and get to Tesco tomorrow depending on how the weather is.
Managed to get a bit of cleaning done today. Did a load of washing which is now drying on the airer in the kitchen, got one of the dehumidifiers with crystals in underneath it. Cleaned the kitchen a bit as well and had to clean out the salad drawer of the fridge as my housemate had a decomposing lettuce in it
We put up the Christmas decorations and I made mince pies and rice pudding this evening. We've all been watching TV and films together the past few nights which has been nice since it's not something we'd normally do (I live in a shared student house). Saw Elf for the first time yesterday and loved it
Think I'll have Macaroni Cheese for dinner tomorrow and I've got HM leek & tattie soup I can have for lunch.0
