Been up since silly o clock making sure I got a Sainsburys xmas delivery slot and a slot from online farm shop for the meat;)
Snowing like mad in Sheffield again.....we must live in same part Sistercas as over a foot here too:p. Had to walk from bottom end of Crookes to RHH in a blizzard yesterday.
Luckily I have done my 15 hours for the week so no walking to work and back again today like I did yesterday.....my legs were killing me last night after all that snow walking:eek:
Doubt very much if DSs school will be open so another day off for him. OH is going to walk into work and see if he can do anything useful. He can`t get out in van to do anything.....no buses running or anything:o.....means no pay if he doesnt work though which isnt good.
Still wondering if anyone will make it to the wedding apart from local friends
Happy birthday Thriftlady:T
Can you just submit a small order in advance and then add to it nearer the time??

when you think about it seriously the world isnt going to end if we dont do all we are told we need to do for Christmas.....it is only a day in the year;)
I have just been telling myself the same kind of thing when worrying that the person making my wedding cake hasnt been in touch to finalise it or give me a price....the wedding wont be ruined if there isnt a cake ....does it really matter.
Here is my christmas song for today:j

Bitsy I am having that album on when people are getting seated etc at wedding;)
Good choice NPM, whilst I do love my pop Xmas music I do love my Christmas carols and classical stuff (and I am an agnostic but there is something about carols that I find magical). Oh and I love Troika
And you're right, if you don't have cake it won't really matter as long as all your family are there to witness your marriage. It's actually a very good attitude to take.
If you need some hair dye posting to you I can get someLikewise any one need food parcels of milk and bread as there's plenty my way :rotfl:
It's been sort of snowing all morning (wasn't forecast) but at the moment it doesn't really seem to be settling. FS was actually warmer in the woods as we weren't exposed to the biting wind so it looked magical and apart from the end when we were all getting a bit cold it was actually really nice. And we all had a hot chocolate and a biccie
Got a headache looming I think due to tiredness.

Afternoon all
Home early from work as they have sent everyone home. Snowing really heavily since about 9 o clock and still is. It is very deep out there and there is chaos on the roads. I went into the city centre on the bus this morning to do the works banking and coming back a journey that usually takes 15 minutes took 2 hours 40 minutes and even then it didnt go all the way that it should. I was lucky though coz they have now stopped the buses running.
I am really worried about my DD2, she won an award at work and the prize was a surprise trip with overnight stay, she didn't have a clue where it was to but was told to pack warm clothes for during the day and "dress to impress" for the evening. She was picked up this morning at 5.30 and last I heard she had been on a train to London and then they were on a coach, so goodness knows where she will end up, I am just worried about her being stuck! She is not answering her mobile now, so I will be glad when she lets me know where she is and that she is ok.
Bramble - congratulations on the job
Donny - they have just showed Doncaster on the news as being one of the worst hit areas - glad you are keeping warm and dry
Candygirl - hope you get your trip to Manchester, I have cancelled my proposed trip to Ireland this weekend, so now have 5 DAYS OFF:D:D:D:D and will spend them at home doing christmas-y things with DDs
Happy Birthday Thriftlady - hope you have a lovely day
Keep warm everyone

Afternoon all.
Happy Birthday Thriftlady.
Beemuzed, healing vibes on the way for Fitz's poorly paw.I cannot remember who it was the other day who was moaning about her husband tidying up while she was doing anything, mine is the same, even when baking, I go for a spoon and it has been put in the DW.I have good news... I HAVE A JOB!! the one i went for last week, they called me yesterday and asked if i could pop in for a bit, and i got offered the job and accepted (of course) I really wanted to work there it looks like such a lovely office. I start on the 10th so can finally relax!!
Nowt else to report here - no more white stuff, thankfully; hoping we don't get any more before Sunday as we're supposed to go out for a meal for Mr LW's birthday, and the restaurant is in a village a ways up the A508.:cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I cannot beleive my luck in the last 24 hours.
I ran away from home temporarily yesterday (my 17yo skived off college and let the dog run all over the house with muddy feet, so rather than beat him to death I walked out) and paid an unexpected visit to my husbands auntie. We got talking about what we wanted for Christmas and I said I either wanted a bread maker or a second hand sewing machine. She told me my MIL has a break maker that she has never used and she suggested that my MIL would probably give it to my husband and I as a Christmas presest. Woohoo (one less prezzie for hubbie to buy)
I was just telling my boss that I wanted either a bread maker or second hand sewing machine for Christmas and he said his wife has a sewing machine that she doesn't use as it's too heavy for her to pick up and when they moved house recently, that he should take it to the charity shop. He said he will check with his wife tonight and if its still going I can have it for free. Woohoo (another free prezzie:beer:).
Also, my husband and I helped fit his cousins kitchen when she was away on holiday and she has a metalic grey fridge freezer (mint condition) going spare. I text her last night and asked if I could buy it for my sister for Christmas as my sisters' fridge freezer is ancient. Hubbies cousin said I could have it for free for all the help we gave them. So my sister can sell hers for a few quid and have a nearly new shiny one.:D
So what shall my dear husband buy me for Christmas then you may ask. Simples, Chanel No.5 (not very money saving I know, but it lasts until my birthday in August).
I feel like I have won the Christmas present lottery:j:j:j
Although I am not a sandal wearing, tree hugging, lentil munching eco warrior, I hate stuff going to waste, very old style if you ask me. Off to pat my goodself on the back now:D
Just a thought, on the conservative side, how much money have I saved?0 -
Bitterly cold here in the beautiful South but not enough snow falling to lay even though the ground is now dry enough. Back to work this morning at the Dragon's Den after a week off. Manager had got the dates wrong and had told me to be back today rather that yesterday (I always work Tuesdays but she wouldn't have it that this Tuesday was the 30th, not the 1st...) but at least it was warm there, unlike my house which is freezing!!! As you can imagine it somehow turned round to be my fault that she mixed up the date. Staff meeting at 2.30 that I only found out about so I said I couldn't go (I work 9-1). Instead I've to walk down the road and do two MS jobs. Am wondering why I'm gonna freeze myself for £11, then I think I never know when that £11 could be vital. Dinner tonight is one of our old staples - Mac n Cheese with Sausages. Real rib-sticking stuff. I might go into carb overdrive and make a rice pudding too. Or steamed pudding. Yum yum!!!0

Good work.
I hate things going to waste too, and always offer up to friends/family and then freecycle or charity.
I hate people filling skips with things that work - total waste0
