    Morning all

HH - think there must be something in the air, my DH very affectionate this morning too, but I'm not complaining either!

No more snow, but a bitterly cold wind, so wrapping up warm is the order of the day here.

DH up early and gone to work but bought me a cup of coffee in bed. Dinner last night was quickie tea for the boys and DH and I cleared up leftovers from the fridge, egg, bacon, sausages, mashed potato etc, not my favourite but needed to be used otherwise I would have thrown it away.

DS1 going away for weekend with Cadets, so came home with kit list last night and all the relevant instructions, he's really looking forward to it and it's the first one he's been to, hoping it will give him some confidence in his own ability.

Did remember to get the lamb out of the freezer to defrost overnight, but must have been cold in the night as it's not property defrosted, but it will be later and I don't need to put it in the oven until 4pm.

Just working this morning until 12 noon then on days off with the added bonus of a day off on Monday, hoping to finish xmas shopping and get it all wrapped etc so it's all done and dusted.

Weather is really bad in some places take care everyone.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

  • Morning all,

Happy Birthday Thriftlady, hope you have a lovely day, I know you still lurk from time to time ;)

More snow here overnight too, DH cleared my car completely last night, and drove it out of the driveway and up and down the street a few times to see how its running, and its about half a foot deep in snow again this morning :rotfl: I think I'll be keeping the boys here again today, I don't see the teachers having had any better luck getting to school today than yesterday, the roads around here were pretty awful. I'll phone in a wee while.

I have a butternut squash roasting and a loaf in, and will be making soup later - B/S Carrot and lentil. Bottom of the fridge soup really, I need to get out for f&veg. I will also make some twinks shortly while the oven is on, and then the rest of the day will be spent thoroughly cleaning downstairs in preparation for the tree going up nex wee. I usually do it on the 13th, but DS2 is desperate, and it will be nice whilst we have the snow. :D

Thanks for the Christmas songs, I am feeling very festive now, need to get on top of the shopping though, I am a bit worried time is running away from me

Have good days all, hugs for Molly, PenPin and anyone else in need, spoons and hi fives available too ;)

  • JackieG don`t start panicking about running out of time....take a deep breath and calm........
when you think about it seriously the world isnt going to end if we dont do all we are told we need to do for Christmas.....it is only a day in the year;)
I have just been telling myself the same kind of thing when worrying that the person making my wedding cake hasnt been in touch to finalise it or give me a price....the wedding wont be ruined if there isnt a cake ....does it really matter.
Here is my christmas song for today:j

    Morning everyone

    Thanks for the carols/christmas music

    Happy Birthday to Thriftlady
yep, even more snow here. Have dentist at 9.30 for a filling:eek: then work, roll on 5.30 as then I am off till Tuesday :D got lots of stuff to do indoors so it can snow as much as it likes then.

not sure what to do for tea tonight, will be something out of the freezer, probably bolognaise if OH is home, Chilli if he isn't. Not done an online shop yet this week, if the snow stays like this they won't come down our road anyway. Might get OH to pop into Morrisons on his way home to pick up a few bits, mind you they probably won't have anything left by this evening:rotfl:

Have a good day and keep warm xx

Morning all & happy birthday thriftlady

Not been for a while, so please accept congrats/hugs/love/kisses as you all need them!
A bit more snow overnight here; didn't go out at all yesterday (added bonus meant an unexpected NSD! :rotfl:) but must go to town today as no money, no milk, no bread....
Never finished my winter prep, so the house is blinking freezing, but making everyone put on more layers instead of cranking up the heating - mean mum! :rotfl:
Breakfast & lunch - using up odds & ends; tea - likewise unless I spot a bargain in town, run out of all forms of protein though.
Hope you're all OK in all this cold, take care all, esp if you're venturing out.

    Love & kisses

    A xo

  • Good Morning Everyone

Had a little more snow overnight but the roads are so icy. Both of our drivers were stuck for hours yesterday - one only 10 mins away from the depot but took him 4 hours to get thtere (our depot is unfortunately near Bluewater Shopping Centre) so we decided not to send our drivers out last night and no drivers going out today - financially its a nightmare but at least everyone is safe and sound. Kids school closed so they are hanging about the house :( Absolutely hate the snow and hoping for a miracle to make it all disappear.

Have loads of office work to do and its lovely and toasty in here, have a few hours on my new job - no excuses when you work from home :) as OH didn't work last night I am hoping he will make himself useful around the house.

Have a few sausages left over so will be having sausage pasta for dinner tonight.

JackieG - I know what you mean, I lost all of November through illness and normally am so organised for Christmas but not this year. Obviously I can't get out to do any at the moment so I am writing this week off and will think about it again next week :o

Anyway, work to do. Stay warm & keep safe.x

    Morning everyone

Thanks for the carols, its so cold and gloomy here, they cheered me up a little:D

The forecasters promised snow and wintery sunshine today - we have neither, just a cold biting wind, and its so dark and overcast that I have to have a lamp on, so none too pleased about that.

DD is still off school, had a bad night with coughing last night, but today she seems on the mend, though the cough would make a heavy smoker proud :rotfl:

Today I'm pressing on with my OU coursework, assignment to be in next Thursday, and haven't started it yet - yikes - and I'm annoyed with myself because next week its my birthday, and I wanted to have it finished and in the bag by then, so I could enjoy my day. I can see a few late nights looming....

Anyway, OS today will be sitting here with hot water bottles rather than having heating on all the time, and using up all the left overs in the fridge, will be bubble and squeak, plus some butternut soup, and theres some custard left over, so will perhaps do a quick pudding to go with it, perhaps a steamed one.

Anyway, everyone else stay snug and warm :j
Debts at their highest: £37,500
Hope to be debt free sometime in 2013 :D

    Morning All!

A cracker in my advent calendar this morning :xmassmile

No more snow overnight although it's supposed to tonight apparently. Freezing cold in my offices at the moment! I sit right next to a radiator which is on max but I'm still having to wear a thick chunky cardigan to keep warm!

Have to do a food shop tonight we're running low on lots of things and don't want to run out if it does snow a lot! No idea what's for tea tonight, 'ifits' probably! :rotfl:

Have to do a major tidy up this evening too, I've finally caught up and done all of my washing...but it's now lying on the bed waiting to be put away! I have to say laundry really isn't my favourite job! :o

Well, best get on, have a good day all.
