We also had a somewhat pushy estate agent to deal with, but since i was shopping around for mortgages i was more than happy to bore them to tears with our requirements.
He wasn't able to match the SelfCert 3year fixed / 25year term 5.29% offer we already had anyway - i tended to find that telling people what we already had on the table soon ended any unwanted phone calls.
Lots of advisors took details promising to call back when they had bettered the offer, but would you adam and eve it - none of them did0 -
 Another day, another doormat without any post.0

Yeah we feel quite forgotten about now too.
After receiving tonnes of mail for ages, we felt really important, but as things are near the end, the mail has dried up. Think we only got 2 or 3 things the whole of last week.
Pity you can't stop the junk mail though !0 -
Hopefully things are moving for us too. fingers, legs, arms etc crossed.
We are buying a reposession and had a call today from my sol who said we have a date set by the building society selling the house we want for exchange 23rd Nov and for completion, the 7th Dec give or take a few days. Im very excited but my problem is my buyers sol who says things may not happen as she may not be able to meet our deadlines:mad: My SOL is confident it is achievable and we are about a month behind buyers sol. Searches on my house should be back now. Will find out more tomorrow.
Good luck everyone.0 -

Hi missbee,
Not to rub it in, but we got something on the doormat today! It's our solicitor's report about the searches and a mass of other paperwork (land title etc). Hasn't turned out anything MAJOR - possibility of subsidence, a small query about some boundary land and also telecommunications towers in the region (which we already knew about). Also got the list of fittings and fixtures from the sellers and the only thing that they said they would leave is the light fittings in the living room (but not noted on the list). Everything else looks fine! So tomorrow, we will get our solicitor to raise the fitting query we have and hopefully, everything else should be fairly easy to resolve. Fingers crossed! Then we can sign our contract and send it off. Our solicitor has also told us to get ready to transfer the deposit plus their fees so it's all happening!
Anyway, I hope you get your searches and related paperwork in the mail soon. Good luck!

The survey is being done on our house today - the one we are selling. It is a turn of the century end terrace, and they have gone for a homebuyers so I have everything crossed. Couldnt sleep for fretting, and I guess it will be another week before they get the report and we know were we stand.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

Well, I thought we would be in by now but how wrong was I!!
Offers accepted 9th September (whilst we were away on hols!)
Solicitors instructed 18th September
Cheque sent for searches 20th September
Homebuyers survey on house we're selling 25th September
Homebuyers on house we're buying 28th September
2 further surveys done on house we're selling 31st October!!
All searches back and ready to sign on house we're buying - today
Our buyers solicitor still not applied for searches, and considering renegociating over rising damp which 'will need attending to in the future with no urgency'.
Don't think I can stand this dragging on much longer! Neither can I face the thought of starting again from scratch.
I definitely need to join the race for Christmas at this rate. Good luck everyone.0 -
Shobo - we were about 2 weeks behind you every step of the way, and now we're not getting in til January! Aaaargh!!!!0

Hi shobo78, welcome to the race! MascaraMinx, sorry to hear about your bad luck but fingers crossed that everything goes well for you to get into your new home in January! Shobo, I know what you mean by saying that you don't think you can face the process again... If our sale falls through for any reason, I will be absolutely gutted and don't think I can face buying for a while... But everything seems to be going well for us so far. We have actually signed the contract and returned it to our solicitor so once they sort out all the questions we have raised, we will be ready to exchange! Fingers crossed! Good luck all...0
