Hi everyone!
Finally, after worrying all week, they survey on our new house is being done tomorrow and the survey on our current property is being done next wednesday.
The estate agent says it's a homebuyers, which is fine, but the surveyor told me it'll take 1 1/2 hours - is this normal? It seems quite a long time to me.
Anyway, at least something is actually happening!:TAddicted to Facebook0 -

Anyway, i asked how the searches are goin and she said the environment one has come back, what is this environment one ? she said everything is going fine.

if any of you are in before Xmas I will be amazed. It takes about 3 months on average for a normal sale to go through....nobody talks to each other in house sales and solicitors are a law unto themselves0

Congrats pawpurrs!!!!!!!!
dkny, I know what you mean about bugging the solicitor as I feel kinda bad I am practically calling every 2 days. But the EA called today and we have a completion date of 8 December! She left a message to say there is a very good reason behind the date and she will tell me when I call back. I called back to be told (very honestly!) by her colleague that she is unlikely to call me back cos she is on the phone and already late for an appointment but she will pass on the message that 8th is ok. So I called the solicitor to make sure she is in the loop...
The environmental search will turn up things like if there is a risk of subsidence, old landfills, telecommunications towers, environmental hazards in the area blah blah blah. Ours had a moderate risk of subsidence (but it's on a hill so that's expected), had two telecommunications towers nearby (which we could see and knew about) and also some old infilled land nearby (but they are only small). The solicitor will wait for all the searches to come in before they do their report and you will see everything then. Good luck!

Congratulations - hopefully I'll be able to say Monday. Exchange day has been changed too many times already, so hopefully it'll happen this time. You never know how far you can fly, till you spread your wings.0 -
Congratulations Pawpurrs!
The survey was done on our purchase today, I hope I'll get some news next week on that.
Now we find out our buyers sols are, in my sols words, "the technical term is CRAP". They have chased my sol 4 times now for the draft contract (she sent it 4 weeks ago, I know cos she sent me a copy) and STILL haven't instructed searches 5 weeks after receiving the fee for them. I could SCREAM!!!
Told my EA to call my buyer and make sure he puts a rocket up them on Monday, surely they should now foot the bill for personal searches to get this thing moving?Addicted to Facebook0
