The race to be in for Christmas!

Chardhouse - lots of sympathy for you. The first time buyers at the start of our chain lost the first house they wanted to buy at point of exchange - expensive and upsetting for them, they made an offer on our buyers house who then took five weeks to find our house ( we were on the market for four of those five weeks) for us to take two weeks to find an empty house. They must be getting so fed up of the whole thing, I worry that they will pull out again. The pressure is on to move before Christmas so the children can start the new term at our village school.
We had to buy somewhere with no upward chain for us to make the deadlines, luckily the perfect place came on as empty but right at the top of budget at just the right time. Walked in, fell in love, had silly offer accepted and now we just have everything crossed, same as everyone else.
We are just waiting for the homebuyers report to land with our buyers.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
I just sold my hosue today 1,500 above asking price and bought our new house 2,400 below asking price plus extras like fridge freezer, cooker etc.
I am seeing a broker tommorow to do the morgage as we provisional accepted, just have to get a solictor now
17 years in our first house and wanting to leave for years, whooo. fibger crossed.0 -
Hello all,
my saga with no news continues - STILL nothing in post today - STILL haven't got copy of local search despite being told TWICE last week would put in the post. Totally fed up - I don't even care about this local authority search now - We're not gonna pull out (unless land mine about to explode under house!!!) so I just want to get on with it. Phoned our EAs and house we're buying's EAs today as fed up with talking to sols. Seems everyone ready to exchange...just waiting on??????Who knows???????
Rant over:mad:
Keep you all informed!!;)0 -
Question:
I'm supposedly "ready to exchange". All sols queries answered, report and searches sent to me, contract and all the other gubbins signed - these have been back with my solicitor since Thursday morning. Lender confirmed OK to proceed.
Still haven't exchanged because vendor's solicitor (who is rubbish) has to get back to my solicitor with acceptance of completion date etc.
We've been at this point since early on Friday and I'm an FTB so I don't know any better, but I'd have thought they now had everything they need. Why haven't we exchanged?Operation Get in Shape

missbee wrote:That's majorly rubbish!! We have also done EVEYTHING (oh, apart from actually receiving the local auth search which sols had for nearly 2 weeks now:mad: - I know I keep mentioning it but I am so mad!). Unfortunately your story fills me with more doom and gloom - how is it that you've suggested a completion date but noone has pulled their finger out and actually confirmed you're ready to rock and roll? Crazzzzzyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy:rotfl:

I hope this all ends soon. I can see why people say moving is stressful now!
Our buyers still haven't received their mortgage offer. They are 3 friends buying together. First there was some c*ck up with arranging the survey so it was weeks after it should have been. Now one of them apparently got his boss to send a reference to the bank who say they never received it! I'm getting rather jittery. I think if our sale falls through we'll lose the house we want and prices are shooting up all the time. I've really fallen for the house we're buying now too. I did a drive-by today and I think it's such a fabulous house in a fabulous area.
Oh well it's out of my hands at the moment.Stercus accidit0 -
Oh I hope you guys get the house you want.0
