I have given up on moving for Christmas. Still awaiting mortgage offer, I been told yesterday when chasing it up that the arrangment fee on the keyfact has shot up from £99 to £599 and we have to pay it. I applied for this on 14th Nov and appartently or so I was told that it went up on 17th Nov, no one told us until yesterday. I am taking the mortgage as its too late to tell them what to do with it, and will complain later.

My survery came back and pulled a protential problem with wood broing insects in the loft so told there EA yesterday who told me to get a free quote as it would costs the buyer a report but not us. I have got someone to look at that soon, hopefully they will pay as it will only be a few hundred quid all being well

My house was surveyed last Thursday so hoping that all goes well.

It would be nice before Christmas to get all these problems sorted so I can move on and have a date to look forward to, just after new year, I hate that time of year anyhow.

well its official. My solicitor is "not retuirning my calls"

I called on friday, she never rang
I called on monday when I was told by a receptionsist she would email me -she did, I returned the email aking her to ring me
I called today stating its now urgent, apparently she was ghoing to call me back after 11. Im still waiting.

I called the EAs to get an update from buyers sols, no returned call.

I have a host of "other stuff" on for the rest of the week. I dont have the strength to fight this one, im so frustrated and !!!!ed off.

I got a call from the letting agent saying they will keep the house till next week, after that we might lose the deposit. Great.

Lynz - what a pain for you. Mine rang me first thing yesterday and then I couldn't get hold of him till 4.30pm. Now if I can't get hold of him how can the other three solicitors? They are all blaming each other now.

Yet another conversation last night about how we will exchange today and move next week. I don't care, I don't even want to move any more. I do feel sorry for our buyers who are piggy in the middle just as much as us. The house we are buying has been empty for a year so luckily they are not too fussed about a few weeks delay.

This is my last free morning with the boys at nursery so I could use it to do some packing and cleaning. Cant see the point so I am off to buy some Christmas stuff, and break my resolution to buy nothing Christmas related till we had moved.

Best of luck for today Lynz.

I have exactly the same thing here. Ive bought 2 count them presents, havent done anything else, as I dont know where to get them delivered to

Im sick of that conversation too! Me & OH seem to have the same one daily, except the only difference is somewhat changed dates.

  • lynz and hex - I'm sorry things are still not going well for you.

I had a bit of a better day yesterday. I had an email from my buyer out of the blue! We have not spoken directly before but we have now sent a few emails and sorted out a few minor things that the sols have not managed to do in the last 2 months. e.g. we've agreed the sale of my washing machine and curtains and a price we're both happy with. Its so much simpler dealing directly.

We're still hoping to exchange on Friday but my buyer is still waiting for the mortgage offer. Oh dear - this is leaving it VERY late. Apparently it was supposedly being faxed yesterday or today, but it didn't come yesterday. I'm praying it will come today so we can finalise everything for exchange on Friday.

I'm feeling quite positive about our move now, but its by no means definitely going to happen. I woke up at 5.00 am this morning and my mind was racing with all the details of everything and I couldn't sleep after that.

  • Hi everyone! This is my first post but I have been lurking for ages!!!! I have been following this post, and what a rollercoaster for you all!!!!

We are FTB and as you can see by my signature, we have only just started the home buying process. At the moment, getting our mortage approved is the main thing we need to get out of the way. I am soooo nervous!!!! Is this the hardest bit????

We were in a very small chain. Obviously nothing our side but the sellers, who did have somewhere lined and ready, have now pulled out of buying that home so looks like we may have to wait for them to find somewhere!!! Grrr...

Anyway, good luck to the few of you remaining in this race! I hope you get good news soon :)
