Hi everyone,
Hex2 and Lynz, I really am keeping my fingers crossed for you both! I can't believe there is no movement to day on both your sides. That's just ain't good enough! I really think you should chase your solicitors, surely they can tell you SOMETHING. I think the worst part about this whole housebuying business is the not knowing bit...
Dkny, my sympathies you are not moving before Christmas cos we had very similar timelines for our house moves happening! We better complete this Friday as our landlord has someone moving in here on Monday. Just got the completion statement through on Saturday and had a big shock at the total figure... We were aware that the developers of the property were going to hit us for around £500 to do a bit of paper-shifting but it came up to £750 in the end and also our lawyer put on an extra £250 to settle any outstanding payment our vendors would have made for the buildings/maintenance charges to the management company. We are buying a freehold house but it's within a gated community so do have some charges to pay. Have wired the money to the lawyer but feel very poor now!
Robin, good luck to you! Mrsc, am very happy you are in the new house after all the trouble you had. Congratulations! You give hope to all of us who are not in yet! You must be like number 3 n the race? Who's keeping count?

working on minimising the amount of cans to move, yes
We have just had a call from our buyer, and he says he hopes we will be exchanging tomorrow for a next Tuesday move, bottom of the chains sols back from holiday tomorrow so it is a maybe. little pink pigs are flying randomly round the room...
moral of the story, always check when your conveyancer will be on holiday, and never use a bargain basement internet conveyancer. I would be a lot more worried if I had used a cr*p solicitor.
Equally everytime I log on I hope that yours at least is sorted Lynz.
Thanks Angel (button is hiding) - my solicitor is great at ringing if there is any news so mostly I try very hard not to bug him. It is the FTB at the bottom of the chain who needs to be ringing, not me. I am a control freak, and this is killing me. Nothing i do seems to influence the process.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Lynz / Hex, you're not trying to buy each others houses are you?
Thinking of you both; it is sooo frustrating when you've done everything you can, and forced to wait by someone else.... Grrrr!!!!!0 -

Hi hex,
Just to let you know I feel for you... I really am crossing toes and fingers for you to exchange tomorrow. I am a bit of a control freak as well and the two weeks leading up to our actual exchange (more weeks if you count all the 'false' starts!) were officially the worst weeks of my life. I had like ZERO sleep, walked around like a zombie and got a b*ll**king at work from the boss. Finally got back my sleep the last 3 nights, hoping nothing goes wrong with completion this Friday. Lots of luck your way!
Ax
P.S. Uncleben, your comments are funny though I don't know how funny hex2 and Lynz will find it!0 -

Ok gang
Do I hassle today or not? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I slept really badly last night for the first time in this whole moving process. There wasn't really any reason and nothing was different to previous days, but I think I'm getting more stressed as we get close to the critical date of whether this is going to work or not.
Our buyer still hasn't got the mortgage offer letter even though they've supposedly had final approval on the phone. Its crazy that receiving an actual letter (in the slow Christmas post) is so important - why can't it be faxed or emailed?
I had some good news yesterday - the company we're buying our house from has offered to pay for us to having a bridging loan if we can exchange on our sale before Christmas but are not able to complete it. So that probably gives us an extra couple of days in the race. If we can at least exchange on our sale we can still complete on the purchase and move before Christmas
I hope this isn't tempting fate, but I have provisionally booked a removals firm for next Thursday (21st). I haven't commited any money to them yet but I wanted to get it pencilled in before they all get booked up. I'm still hopeful that we WILL move next week even though every day that passes makes it more unlikely.
Keep positive everyone. Do everything you can. Don't give up hope until it really is over.
Time for me to chase everyone again and see what is happening. Lets hope that today is the day for us all!0 -
Hi robin, I feel for you... The last 4 nights have been the best sleeps I have had for a while since the housebuying saga started so I know how you feel. My OH sleeps through everything so he's fine there! Don't worry, things will get better! We didn't think it was going to happen and exchange finally took place. Now, thinking back, it's like 'oh, what were we worrying about?' Hindsight hey?
Lynz, hex2, any updates on both your ends?
