Lynz, we are self driving - not even sure we can book a van in that time. We have a friend helping, and we dont actually have much furniture, just lots and lots of books and tools. OH is adamant we are moving ourselves, I would rather have used a firm. Good luck for 9am. I need to ring mine at 9.30am, after that our phone wont work till after 3pm! My mobile doesn't work at home so short of taking the monsters out shopping for the day.....now theres an idea...

I know - but we are going to freeze here with no electric so need to go out. It is also raining so it has to be indoors. Monsters have a three shop tolerence point which really limits the options.

I just can't be bothered doing anything to or for the house. If it is Thursday then I have a lot to do, and I am work tomorrow so really need to get myself in gear. Keep getting excited for nothing so whats the point? I am working on your dont care then something will actually happen theory!

I need to use the rest of the coffee up before I pack the machine so I might just have to join you there.....

We did it!!! Moved in last wednesday!!!

It took exactly 4 months from the day we viewed the house till the day we got the keys!!!!! There was alot of stress and tears along the way but once we walked though the door they were all forgotten.

By tuesday night we were all boxed up and ready to go, up at the crack of dawn on Wednesday morning did alot of pacing about, man and a van turned up at 10:15 but we decieded to send him off for breakfast as we hadn't heard anything, 10:55 we get the call completion had taken place (YAY) man and a van turned 10 minutes later we loaded up the first load and I called the EA to see if they were able to release the keys, she said they hadn't heard anything but the phone was ringing, she put me on hold and said that was the call and we could come and get them!!! Dashed down and collected the keys was in tears when I got there though excitment and emotion of leaving our flat. Ran round to the house and went in.............and still loved it!!!

We unloaded the first load and then hubby, my dad and man with the van went back to the flat to get the last lot and do the final checks whilst I stayed at home (love saying that) I kept walking round like a loony opening and closing doors and cupboards, when you have moved from a compact one bedroom flat to a 3 bed converted bungalow its a shock!!!

Anyway the men came back and unloaded and we started the unpacking breaking for fish and chips.

Good luck to everyone with their moves hang on it there it is so worth it in the end when you get those keys.
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it

  • Spent the morning trying to organise childcare cover, and am sorted for Friday through to Tuesday during the days, but not sure about evenings yet...

Submitted job application and phoned to check they've received it OK...

Can't really concentrate on work at the moment, so might pop out to the cake shop :-D

Lynzpower - on the day we finally exchanged I resorted to phoning the solicitor every 20 mins to see what was happening... I felt like a right pain, but am so pleased I did it... a couple of times she put me on hold while she phoned people for updates, which I am sure would have been put on the 'to do later' pile if I hadn't been putting pressure on. Keep at it!
  • Congrats to those who have moved or are moving very soon.
Commiserations to those who won't make it before Christmas.

My buyer has agreed to book a flight back (to sign all the paperwork) the minute the mortgage offer is received, so we're hoping we can still exchange this week and complete/move next Thursday (21st).

Its going to be another stressful week I think.
