looks like Im slowly out of the race:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Lynz, lots of stripe and sympathy!
As for us I had stopped ringing, but cracked and phoned this afternoon, Everything is finally in place ready for us to change only the FTB sols have finally asked some questions about boundaries that cannot be answered and we have again ground to a halt. Site meeting tomorrow, if resolved then Monday exchange and completion whenever, quite possibly first week of Jan.
I am past believing any of it, or indeed caring very much. Never ever doing a chain again.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
WE MOVED YESTERDAY!!! We exchanged 9:30am YESTERDAY! and then completed straight after.
We got the keys to our new house at 10am, so we started taking boxes over in the car (6 car loads), removal lorry arrived 2:30pm to take the rest, out of our old 2 bedroom terrace house by 5pm, and we were in bed in our new 3 bedroom detached house at 11pm.
What a day - and it is an amazing feeling. We opened a bottle of wine, and ordered a chinese!!
And the previous owners had left us a card, and two bottles of champayne. How wonderful. Lovely Lovely Lovely.
I know some of you are still waiting to get in, but all i can say, is its worth the wait. This has been going on since August, and we are now in before christmas.
All the best to all of you. Its the worst and most stressful thing i have done yet, and believe me i intend in staying put!!
I just want to thank all you people out their, that gave us advice & help and support on the horendous situation we had with our first buyers, and their awful surveyor.
And then also for you guys encouragement to continue on with it after our first buyers pulled out. So thank you so so much.
You all make a brilliant bunch, who definately support one another at these times of need.
All the very best to everyone
Oddgy

Ooh congratulations! (and all set up and back online again already I see!
). I bet you're relieved it's all over! You got there in the end. How much was your removal lorry? I've not got a quote yet until I finish selling & freeecycling all the rest of my junk, but I'm still curious - we've always moved ourselves in the past but are considering not doing so this time...
Congrats, again, lucky thing you!0 -
When / if anyone ever asks me what its like buying a house I think I'll just fall on the floor laughing! :rotfl:
Our HA have now "asked" that we exchange prior to completion despite the fact that they know we have 100% mortgage. They have stated (through their solicitors) that they are willing to accept the solicitor's fees and disbursements as a deposit! We hadn't even bothered to think about it as accepted it would all need to be done same day.
We're now looking to exchange next week - when cheque to solicitor has cleared which means we can get on and do the tasks we need to do prior to moving in. :T :T :T
Still keeping the date to actually move as January but it really feels good to know this time next week we'll be holding the keys!
I'll update the signature when I'm over the shock! :rotfl:0 -
Congratulations Oddgy! Am so happy for you! I think someone else was first in this race, but I guess you are second or third? Can you put it in your signature so we can keep track? It's nice to know some of us are there already.
We are in the midst of packing hell, place looks like a bomb site, things everywhere... *sigh* But I have packed 7 big boxes so far (we are moving from one-bedroom rental flat to our own first 2-bedroom house so not much furniture to move!). And I think that's definitely more than half packed!
Lynz and hex2, sorry to hear about your misfortunes so far. I am keeping fingers crossed for you and waiting to hear updates from you both. Monday is another week!
And all those new to the race, welcome! Hope we can provide some help and advice here. :cool:0 -
