Lynzpower thanks for your help the other day. No updates so far.

I did get a call from my sellers EA about survey as she rang that surveyor company. It appears the lower price was the price it would sell for quickly if I get reprocessed, so not as bad as one thought. Thanks anyway.

I also getting my house finally surveyed tomorrow. Still waiting for my official survey and the mortgage offer its been weeks, they don't go fast these people, slow and stop by looks of things

Anyway anyone else got any news? Even if slow for me always nice to hear of folks having good news, it raises ones spirit. :)

Hope you going to post more piccies, sounds a lovely place you got. :D
Ta - it'll be lovelier once there are fewer boxes lying around, not to mention once I've got rid of the packaging from my sofas. I think I'm going to have to sweet-talk my dad again. He rocked up on my doorstep two days after I moved in, and left with a carful of packaging :D (I could barely even SEE the flat underneath the packaging the bed came in!)

I need to get my bits of wardrobe unpacked to make sure it's the right one (and, I suspect, draft in hefty male friend from down the road to help me put it together, given that the flatpack took two blokes to carry it!) then Dad can take away those packages too!

Proper boxes will, of course, go on Freecycle. Fingers crossed I might actually have internet again at the weekend (phone is being connected on Sat so I will at least have dialup while I get broadband sorted).

  • Its great to read about people exchanging, moving, and better still buying nice new furniture and being happy in their new homes. Well done everyone!

I'm pleased to report that I am back in the race. I phoned the EA this morning in desperation and said I don't think it can possibly happen before Christmas. He said not to worry - the buyers surveyor is coming to our house tomorrow. This is what we've been waiting weeks for!

Its still going to be a close thing - we will still have to wait for his mortgage offer to come but then we are just about ready to exchange. The only remaining hurdle is that our buyer is living/working abroad and has to fly back to sign the paperwork. Hopefully this will all happen before Christmas and I am now targeting a completion/move on 21 December!

Good luck to everyone else who is waiting.
  • Well..........we officially bow out of the race today despite the mortgage offer (with the correct address!) landing on the solicitor's desk. :T

Thanks to a totally incompetent firm of surveyors we really don't have enough time to complete the work we needed to before moving in.

Solicitor, mortgage brokers and housing association have all been excellent and we couldn't have asked for a better service.....Even today my solicitor is telling me she will pull out all the stops to complete and exchange on Friday. :A

BUT.....we've had enough of the stressing and rushing and pushing and badgering and with Christmas looming so fast we're going to take chill pills and catch our breaths! ;)

We plan to get it all organised early January - contracts almost signed - just some paperwork for HA...then we're going for it! :j

Hoping you ALL enjoy your Christmas - wherever you are. ;)

Oh Ghostdog you have had a bad time of late because of that muppet surveyor.

Hope it improves for you :)
  • Can I be a late addition? We accepted offer on ours in Sept, offered on a house day after, had it surveyed, then found out some way down the line that seller had no intention of looking for new place until January!
After cursing, and having long think about it, last month found somewhere else, offered and was accepted. Had it surveyed, mortgage offer in place, all seeming ok, looking to complete on or by 21st dec also. Hope it all goes ok as 7 months pregnant, and can't wait for too much longer to move...just in case!!
