Just realised I might actually be part of this race now :) Mortgage is sorted, survey is done at the minute I am waiting for the list of contents from people in the house and the search results to be completed. Once that's done I am exchanging and completing on the same day so fingers crossed I;ll be in before Xmas :D

    Fabulous - Good luck Toontastic:beer:

We finally had a letter yesterday from Solicitor, outling the indemnity insurance (she has contacted our mortgage provider for their approval) and suggesting we have a structual survey (which we are not going to). Included were the plans for all the work done on the property and also a copy of vendors survey.

I've just tried to make an appointment but as she holds her own diary she has to call me back!!!!!!!!!!!
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it

  • Chasing the Woolwich this morning and talked very nice helpful advisor into flagging up how desperately we want our application to proceed with haste! (I'm sure they must hear this from everyone but it made me feel a little better......)

Have worked out that if we get the mortgage offer back next week we can give the 4 weeks required notice to quit our current tenancy on Monday 27th which means our final day will be Christmas Day! Somehow I don't imagine anyone from the HA will be coming in especially to collect our key.....!

We're hoping the paperwork can all be organised and we can exchange and complete very early December to enable us to get that garden paved, kennels up and flooring down!

It really does make my head spin!!!! lol
  • LOL – the umbrella – I wonder if it has an attractive EA logo on the side. Of course they wouldn’t benefit from the advertising and it is an entirely altruistic gesture of gratitude.

  • Hi everyone, just caught up on this one, it aint over till the fat lady sings!
I have signed and we are supposed to be exchanging today and now our buyers have said they only have 2 1/2% deposit - which obviously leaves us with a shortfall for our exchange monies. It was they who requested a 5% on exchange which we agreed to - now they have renaged at the 11th hour. I'm trying to keep my cool - after all I was an Estate Agent myself!
  • Silly question, what needs to happen between exchange and completion..and why is it taking you guys so long. I want to exchange by next Friday (24th) and was hoping to be in by mid-Dec the latest!
