  • They do not need it for their records after all they are acting for the vendor, not you (it is very useful for the vendor and EA to have this official info free of charge though in case of needing to be back on the market) Last time i was selling i said the seller was welcome to view my homebuyers report and note the needed repairs, but that if they wanted a survey they'd have to get their own.

So confused:confused: The EA has just been on the phone asking if we'd had the survey back (which we haven't) and they asked for a copy of the survey for their files... Why would they want a copy? Surely the only person it's useful for is me as the buyer? Is it risky sending them a copy? Should I wait until the contracts have been signed and a deposit made?
Oh I got so tizzled when I answered the phone! I wasn't expecting a call from them and I don't react well under pressure.
The vendors solicitor hasn't sent contract papers over to mine yet, and now this... Should I get worried?
Can someone put my addled mind at rest pleae?

Hmmmm - we sent a copy of the survey to the solicitors - as they can chase things up if necessary. Only did this as got a covering letter from surveyors and 2 copies - they recommended we sent it to sols. But why anestate agent should want it baffles me - it's nothing really to do with them!

Fingers crossed to all of you still waiting to exchange. Got a letter from the EA of property we're buying today - apparently we can pick up 'a quite nice golfing umbrella' when we pick up keys on completion, as a token of their thanks at doing business with them. Forget the house....I WANT THAT UMBRELLA!!!! LOL:rotfl:

The plot thickens on ours - had a call from a surveyor today asking if they could come tomorrow, she then queried whether we were a Hotel as I answered the phone with the hotel name and she didn't realise it was a commercial property!! I asked if it was a problem and she said no?!? Then my buyer rang to see if I'd heard from them etc... so we should know next week if he can get finance as this survey is the decider, yikes!!

missbee - an umbrella? are they trying to tell you something about the roof?

We have decided to get in for the 8th and then get the re-wire done after Christmas. I am going to to take the toddlers away for a few days whilst OH and electrican get on with it. In the meantime no excessive christmas lights, or changing light bulbs whilst touching anything metal, etc.

  • Just realised I might actually be part of this race now :) Mortgage is sorted, survey is done at the minute I am waiting for the list of contents from people in the house and the search results to be completed. Once that's done I am exchanging and completing on the same day so fingers crossed I;ll be in before Xmas :D
