  • Good luck cornflake. Not sure if you are allowed to go with the same solicitors as they have to act in your interest and this may confuse this?

We went in and sign yesterday - we're the final ones to sign in the chain. Just got to wait for our Lender to approval the indemnity insurance and then we can exchange. Very excited but very nervous all the same that it might still all go wrong.
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it
  • Roof needs doing, new electrics probably needed, firewalls not in place...... etc. And they lied to the surveyor saying it was freehold, when its leasehold? (Why?) We don't want a project - We wantyed a little place to get us on the property ladder for a year or 2.

So we've pulled out.... Going to stay in our rented house til after the wedding next year. Can't decide whether I'm happy or sad???

Good luck everyone! - Hope you're all in by Xmas

  • Oh no Pumpkin Pie, but I'm sure it will have all been for a reason. Imagine how many more things may have been uncovered if you did buy the place? Focus on the wedding now and I'm sure you'll find the right house for you.

Roma, I'm glad it's all worked out for you and hope exchange finally happens. It seems you are going through the same turmoil as we are. Part of me just wants it over with but another part has had enough of one thing or another going wrong that I just want to say forget it all.

    Quick update from me :)

We had a survey done on Friday on the Hotel for finance reasons, my buyer didn't wait for the results, he rang me and pulled out on Sunday :(

We've started moving our stuff downstairs and moving my Mum upstairs - we're sharing out the Hotel to create two huge flats, we don't have a mortgage so we'll share out the bills. We still want to buy a shop so we'll take a look at leasehold without accomodation.

A strange thing happened though... we had a phone call yesterday from a lady in London asking if we were still for sale - she'd seen it on the internet (I haven't used an agent) and was a cash buyer able to complete very quickly. She's supposed to be ringing today if she's going to view it. It sounded like a developer and now we're wondering why she's so keen to buy it - the super casino decision is due in January and there are loads of things in the pipeline up here, I wonder if she knows something I don't.

Pumpkin - sounds like a lucky escape!
Roma - glad things are back on track :)
  • Pumpkin - yes sounds like you found out in time - worth paying for that survey.

Roma - glad to hear you are still on track. Here's hoping you can relax (and pack) this weekend. I am completing on the 30/11, so I hope you will be just after me. I am sure it will all go through for you.
