Thecornflake we are using the same practice of solicitors as our buyer but we all had to sign to say we agreed with it, or do you mean using the same person.

DKNY - thats great news you might be on the way to signing and talking exchange like a few of us on here
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it

Our last and final search is back local one, I feel so happy... But what happens next??

Hi dkny and congrats! I can see we are a bit behind you...! As I understand it, now your solicitor needs to receive the answer to all the enquiries he might have sent to your vendor's solicitor, such as rights of ways, guarantees for the heating system... all that.

Do you know if your sols has received an answer back to the enquiries yet? If yes, then it is a matter of only signing contracts and fix an exchange date! If not, then you'll need to wait a bit longer for those to be back. So stressing, isn't it?

And cornfllake, I am happy to hear you went for our conveyancers! I hope you have a good experience too.

    Hiya,
    Thanks,
Im not sure if my solictor has recieved answers as yet, she did have a few which was being dealt with but not sure if they have actually been sorted, the local search only came back this morning so am unsure if there are any questions on this at the minute, it definately is VERY stressing everybit of it lol, but i guess it will all be worth it wont it in the end, when we have those house keys to the new house feels so close but yet so far away lol... how far behind are you??

We still have no exchange date or even completion date, really want to hand in our notice end of this month but not sure if its risky.. but it would save us £900 which would be brilliant as it would be extra cash either towards mortgage or furniture etc...

    Good luck

    Cornflake - Good luck :T

We are a week behind you dkny!

we are in the same situation as we have to give 1 month's notice to our rented flat and would like a bit of overlapping to move things but not much... a week will be enough!

We don't want to give notice until we have a confirmed date from our sols since everything can go to pots until we exchange and then we will be homeless!

We just got our chancel search back and we are waiting on the LA search, which was requested online a week ago. Our sols has also sent some queries to vendors sols yesterday so hopefully they will reply quickly and once we have reply to enquiries and LA search back we can exchange and complete!
    There is hoping....

I am a little worried. I still waiting for mortgage its been provisional accepted as it was a couple of weeks back from another lender only they relented on it.

I paid for searches and survey last week yet to get back to me. Although I got something from solicitor about whats included in house and what isn't its a document that's at least 6 months old from and ols sale, old buyers pulled out from a sale with the house we are buying.

But what's worrying me is this, we budget for extras like mortgage, council tax and normal bills, but I didn't no house had a water meter. It isn't new build. According to Water company our water bills will double even on being tight with water. I barely could afford the extra as its tight as it is.

I could pull out but we really want to move out and I would loose money on moving and may loose my buyer.

Its stressing me out and on top of that I feel like XXXt

Apparantly we may all be water metered soon poppy, you could find out how long the meter has been there, as if its been there less than six monthes or a year I believe you can change it back, but it will have to be the owners that requested the meter that do it, you wouldnt be allowed to when you move in, food for thought.

Thanks pawpurrs didnt occure to me to ask. My mortgage is also based on outcome, so I didnt budge for a meter.

I did ask water company they said it was installed in 2002 so no hope in getting rid of it.

Theres no problems with water where I liev so owners only motive is money saving. Okay thats fine for them they have no kids.

ABOUT TIME TOO! Congrats and hope all goes smoothly (and quickly) from now on!!
  • No exchange for us today after all. Despite being told everyone in the chain had confirmed they wanted to exchange today to their solicitor's, it actually turns out that our buyers solicitor's can't get in touch with our buyers for their go ahead despite trying since this morning (hmmm). I'm sitting here in tears wondering what on earth is going to happen next before it's all over with (if that happens at all in fact).
