No one else up yet?
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone  DH is,at last, back from his travels in China :j so we had a family evening last night. We're going to take DS to see Harry Potter this afternoon. DH is going to make a rabbit, apple and mustard casserole this morning, which will sit in the Rayburn until we're back :T
Have a great Old Style day everyone :A

I'm up, I've finally got around to registering so thought I would say good morning.
My youngest daughter has got scarlet fever and we've been up for ages.

It's -10c here in Middlesbrough!!!!!!! It was never supposed to get anywhere near that cold last night. If OH can get the car started this morning it will be a miracle - unfortunately he has to work (retail).

I've lived here for 12 years and never ever recall it being that cold here. Glad I got my winter preps done in time this year thanks to everyone's advice on this board! :T:T0 -
morning
Penpen glad DH is back , enjoy HP my DD went to see it yesterday thought it was great and cant wait for the last one
looby- lou welcome hope DD soon recovers
no more snow overnight but its so icy , I bought myself some shoe grips in co$tco yesterday ( 2 pairs for £11 so DH has had a pair too)HERE ( note much cheaper in co$tco
) i worry about slipping when iots icy so hopefully these will help
dont need to go out today so i'm not even sure i am going to get dressed
roast chicken for dinner with veg, will also cook a gammon and some jacket spuds at the same time and we can have those in the week
will feed and water birds and i think i will bring the guinea pigs in for a warm ( have an indoor cage)
have a good day everyone , keep warm xx0 -
Morning all
Chilly here too, but no snow so far. Plans for today include a visit from DD & DSIL, I have a car booster seat for them which they will need for the newest fosterchildren. I will make some cakes to take to work on Monday, roast chicken for tea today with roasties, stuffing, cauliflower & carrots.
I knitted a white scarf yesterday & a pink one & started a purple one, that just leaves me cream & light brown to do. I may start on some in mixed colours next, if I sell all the ones I've done & most are spoken for.
I'm doing the collection at work for someone who's leaving & we decided an Oracle token would be a good idea, I ordered it online on Thursday & it arrived yesterday morning, I am impressed with the service.
Stay safe & warm everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning All
Louby - sending lots of get better thoughts for DD
Very frosty start here today, gotta go to work in a minute and download the lorry tacho - not looking forward to it at all. Will wrap up warm. Need to pop into Currys nearby as well as the netbook DS bought 2 months ago is playing up.
Will pop into Asda on the way back and get something nice and easy for dinner, no roast today as I will be ironing all afternoon - at least that keeps me warm!
PenPen - I loved Harry Potter last night. Also when we got their one of our seats was broken so we were upgraded to the souper douper seats that noone ever uses coz they are so darn expensive - very comfortable.
My stomach pains have at last stopped :j only taken 1 month, now if I could just get over the tiredness I would be more or less back to normal.:T
Another cup of hot tea is required, have a great day all.x0 -
Morning Guys!
It's -6 here atm:eek::eek::eek:: OH has just put the gas fire on in the lounge. Have another fire coming this week which is more efficient and throws out a lot more heat!
Nurse has been and gone. She'll be back later to check on me:o
She said that her car took 20 minutes to start getting warm and it took an age to scrape the ice off:eek::eek:
This morning OH has decided we're having a cooked breakfast, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to manage it as feeling a little sicky this morning. He has got out sausages, bacon, beans, mushrooms and eggs...sounds lovely, so hopefully I can eat something.
WM has been on and emptied into the TD and the DW needs emptying. Downstairs need a hoover this morning. Having soup and sarnie for lunch if anyone hungry, then steak and chips for dinner.
DD still in bed as Sunday is her lie in day. OH going to help me shower after breakfast...lucky him:o
Hope everyone is okay and stay warm!!

Morning folks, and a strange one too - was wakened at quarter to seven with thunder and lightening, and it is still snowing - not a great combination. Its freezing here, just as well we are not brass monkeys:rotfl:There is about 4 inches on snow lying and its very windy. Away to get the SC on this morning with lovely beef olives in a rich onion gravy, will also make soup, and do some baking since the temperature is to drop down to minus 11 here by the end of this coming week. Preparation will be the key this week I think! Whole house looks like a chinese laundry, but its 'homely' if you know what I mean. i have got to say I love Sundays like this - cosy, washing, cooking and the radio on with no intention of going anywhere.
Hope you all have a good day and stay safe and warm, hugs to all that need them

Sorry to hear that. Hope your DD gets well soon xx
Morning my lovelies
Was -3 degrees in Stratford last night, it was bloomin' cold and DD wouldn't wear her blanket over her knees in the pushchair, or her hat or keep her gloves on  Next time I bring Duck tape and keep them on that way
So it was really far too cold to enjoy although the bag of chips were delish
Plans today, more pottering I suppose. Might make some twinks, do some tidying, got some more Xmas craft to finish off.
Tea tonight is chicken, veg and roasties
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a lovely warm and cosy Sunday OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning All,
Its white out still, and there's more of it falling as I type.
Glad to hear you are improving so much EssexGirl, bet you're feeling relieved now.
JackieO, I was so pleased to read about your SIL's birthday going so well, and have tears in my eyes from reading about the dreamcatcher

Well, I survived the meet, only one panic attack and that was when I was doing my magical mystery tour there on the trains! My hairdryer died a death in the morning so I had to stay put and let my mane dry on its own, which normally takes a whole day; needless to say it was still a bit damp when I got on the train. It was lovely to meet up with friends old and new
The boys had a lovely day at grans but were snowed in, I will be having words with her for spoiling them though, they came home with advent calendars and £35 between them as apparently that how much her day out with them would have cost, had they managed it!!! Of course, its burning a hole in DS1's pocket, he's already asked twice if he can go to Argos today :rotfl: I don't think that will be happening, I need to do an online shop, I put it off the other day as I was trying to decide what to do, but now I have no choice. Mind you, there's still enough food here for a few days. Washing drying ironing and general housewifely duties today.
Have good days all, and please stay safe in the snow, don't go driving unless absolutely essential!
Hugs spoons and hi fives all round
