Abby, I think you have stood up well to some of the criticism and comments on here. I am astounded by the tone of some posters, in particular Ceridwen and Blue Monkey (or is it Blue_Monkey?). I went through a similar thing to you, but it was my parents who wanted me to abort. I didn't.
she is now 39, and a wonderful and much loved woman,(especially by my parents!!)

Anyhoo, I basically wanted to just give you a big (((HUG)). Ignore all that has been said and whichever choice you make, best of luck and happiness in your future.

    Hi

Well done for telling your Mum, people dont often react as you think. I bet you feel more reassured now that you have her support.

    Jo

You know, it means the world to have her support. I genuinely am a lot calmer.

Now I have to work out how to resolve my housing situation in June, as I;ll be hmm 7 months pregnant when my tenancy runs out. I wonder if I could spend the summer at my parents, I mean you never know....maybe spending month there with a newborn isn't a bad idea....having said that...that would make 7 bodies in a 4 bed house so maybe not....

Well some people have strong opinions and at the end of the day it only briefly upset me.

Thank you very much! I think the good thing is that I will basically be almost exactly the same age as mum was when she had me so she understands what I will go through. She suffered sever post natal depression of which she only recently told me the stories ( very much upset me) so I think shes determined I will be fine. I do worry about PND and I'm only 6 weeks pregnant!

I lived at my mum's house for the summer with a newborn. My brother moved into his girlfriend's house for the university summer holidays, and I had his bedroom for around 7 weeks. It was good timing, the baby was born end of July :)

If it's workable it could be a really good idea :)

I'm really glad you told your mum and she has surprised you by being supportive, you have to trust and listen to your instincts and the rest will work itself out.
You can get your education and be a mother and then will have someone to work hard for, I think you're going to be just fine, you sound like a smart girl.
7 people in a 4 bed house doesn't sound too bad, would you have a big enough room for yourself and baby?

Would entirely depend on which of my siblings rooms I took over. I suspect if anything I couldn't stay for the summer, it my be either i stayed for a week and one of my brothers stayed at my grans, OR my mum came down to Leeds for a week or 2 and helped me get on my feet. Which I think is a more likely aspect to be honest.

I've contacted the student accomodation providers because I know they have family housing and ideally I'd need a two bed place so that mum can stay and also I am pretty sure if I am sleeping in the same room as the baby...I will spend all night staring and holding a mirror over to check she is breathing.

I'm well aware that I have a long road to go down, there is still the chance of a miscarriage, which is why I need to start doing everything I can to be healthy. Not going to lie, my diet has no vegetables in it...at all....none...I literally eat bread, soup, cheese, sausages, chips and drink lots of milk. I can't actually afford to go get any fresh veg this week till I am paid on friday. The frozen mixed veg thats been in the freezer for 5 months will have to suffice along with the stirfry I bought from sainsburies. And I'm panicking because someone said you can't eat fish? I LOVE FISH!

You can eat most types of fish, but you have to be careful about the amounts of mercury in some things. Check on a pregnancy website. I had a desperate craving for swordfish :(

Of course it's best to get a varied diet with fruit, veg, carbs, protein, fibre, grains etc, but do the best you can and don't worry too much, I'm sure there are lots of mums these days not eating a perfectly balanced diet.
Probably the most important thing is no alcohol, cigs and coffee I reckon.
Look after yourself and keep as calm and relaxed as you can, easy to say but I know you have lots of think about and sort out in the next few months.

Abbey - a really easy and delicious way to get more veg inside you is green smoothies: eg large handful of spinach(or any other green leaves), a banana and 250ml water. Wizz in blender - so delicious, filling and healthy. They have transformd my diet and I feel better for it. I now eat loads of greens every day this way. Of course you need to have a (basic is fine) blender)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Spinach and banana smoothies are lovely, I drink them too! Gives me lots of energy in the mornings.
