  • Just had a thought. i understand you want him out asap, and you can't afford to change locks til Friday. Perhaps you could swap your front and backdoor barrels over until you can afford to get locks changed so you can get him out quicker. I read this on here somewhere and while it doesn't sound much more secure at face value, if he were to try to get in the front door with his front door key and couldn't he'd probably just assume you'd changed the locks. Who would think to try the front door key round the back?

Anyway, I've only discovered your thread tonight, but I do so hope you get him out sooner rather than later. You and your poor dog deserve some peace in your own home.

    It's only a game

    It's an idea but I really can't believe £5-10 can't be found.

PM me your address and I'll come round and change them myself just to get this dealt with!

My son admitted to me last night that he is scared of my lodger...
How many more signs do you need that SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE URGENTLY!
so as a mother protecting (what a joke at this time:() I didnt divulge too much to my son.
Sugarbabe, how can he help you, if you don't tell him ALL the facts
He stayed with me till late. I felt okish but this is such a damn mess.I have to try and think of everything step by step and its so damn difficult with lack of sleep and worry.

Step 1. Get your son back STRAIGHTAWAY.
Step 2. Arrange for the police to come round TOMORROW whilst you tell your 'friend' to leave immediately.
Step 3. Arrange the locksmith ASAP, and if you HAVE to wait until Friday (for the locksmith), follow the tips on here to change the barrels etc.
Step 4. Have your son stay with you for a day or two whilst you are settled and the locks changed
    Step 5. Celebrate your freedom!

I have managed to get hold of a locksmith - an hours notice is required for him to come out.
Is there any way you can get a wage sub from work, or write out an IOU to the locksmith?
Police on speedial, I am trying to sort this out as best as I can:(
I am planning to get Police down this Friday to remove him,
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT LEAVE IT UNTIL FRIDAY.....
I simply cannot afford the locksmith till I get paid. Ex B/R no credit facilities-I asked my son to lend me some money, but he couldnt. I do not have close friends to ask for financial help...every thing seems to create me more worry I am so overwhelmed...its all a struggle and it feel like its a vicious circle...I am trying so damn hard not to be victim again, like a previous poster said.....its so hard when you have no family.................
As others have said, you DO have family - your son -you just need him to be aware of things and ask for his help NOW

Sorry if I sound harsh Sugar but I am worried that you are letting this situation go on for any length of time. I only wish I lived nearby and could help practically but I don't.

We (fellow msers) are concerned for your safety ..... Advice can only go so far, please get help. Sending hugs

    Take care - stay safe:)

I echo ih8stress's comments that we are concerned for your safety; do you have a neighbour you could ask for assistance in changing the lock.

Failing that, could you ring round some locksmiths in your area and ask them if they could do the work on an IOU basis.

What about the Police .... could they help with the cost of changing the locks as it would ensure your safety once the "friend" had been removed.
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

The police won't be interested in the OP's money problem.

Maybe the police keep a few lock barrels to change locks in domestic violence situations.

if i didn know better i'd say this thread was a complete joke or troll.

If somenoe was threatening me or my family, i'd have multiple members of friends/family there to deal with the situation.

If i somehow had nobody at all to support me i'd tll the lodger he had 1 hour to get out and tell him at the time of 1 hour the police would be called and he would be trespassing.

I've read in an out of this thread for 3-4 days now and im shocked that its still going on.. which is why i think its a windup. if someone is genuinely concerned for their safety then you wouldnt wait a few days.

I have to say neas that the same thought has crossed my mind too. I sincerely hope that is not the case but the OP does seem to be dragging this out when a quick closure is needed.
