I recently updated the firmware on my Desire to 2.29.405.2 and since then (3 days ago) it hasnt rebooted once!

Maybe this issue is now fixed?
  • I have the same issues, so I have flashed mine to a "stable" leedroid rom and it still suffers the dreaded rebooting issue. and the serial number starts sh08 its a replacement SLCD for the original amoled one i had that got lost and replaced with good ole orange care. Id send this one back but Im sure orange wouldnt replace it due to "new" rom. I love my phone but hate the orange bloatware so i think this one will get lost unless i can find a orange shipped rom. It cant be used in its current state. Mine reboots with angry birds, sat nav, youtube or videoing or even sending a mms. Glad i got free orange care for the duration of my contract!
  • I sent mine back to HTC and got it back a fortnight ago. So far so good (touch wood).

It took exactly a week between UPS collecting the phone and bringing it back so I'm very impressed - although that was before all the snow appeared!

When phone was returned, it was updated to the latest software release.
  • I absolutely hammer my HTC with all sorts of stuff and it works completely fine. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones :)

    Hi there

I got my first HTC desire on 1st sept it lasted about 4 weeks. after several calls vodaphone replace with what they told me was a brand new handset - turned out to be reconditioned.

2nd one lasted 3 days and again replaced.

The 3rd broke a week ago. This time vodaphone said only option was repair. mmmm not happy with that. When I asked why was told no HTC's in stock. After 3 hours of argusing that it was not my fault they had none in stock and that I had hardly been able to use the phone since I started the contract in sept they finally gave in to my request of a different phone. Basically was told to go to Vodaphone shop and pick any phone (apart from Iphone) and they would arrange a stock to store trf. So of I went and 30 mins later left with a shiny new Samsung Galaxy - guy in the shop did try to sell me the Dersire HD but i said i had no confidence in HTC.

Now apparently vodaphone will contact me to arrange to collect the faulty handset - which has started working again. DOnt know when they will contact me but if I still have it in a couple of months its going on ebay.

I am so much happier with the Samsung and its much easier to use and better features.

Great to see an official response on my thread

An update on my own HTC.

It was collected by courier on Friday 10 December to go back to HTC.

And wonder of wonders it came back to me this morning.

    That was fast :T

    Has new motherboard fitted.

So what to do now, do I reload all my gubbins and see how it goes, or do I sell it ?

I really didn't expect to see it again this year so I went out and bought a stand in, a Samsung Galaxy Europa, which cost £79 and to all intents and purposes does everything the Desire does.

I was so depressed about the Desire letting me down but now that HTC have got it back to me so fast I will give it another go and see if it holds up this time. If it reboots just once I will scream.
  • Congrats on getting yours repaired. I am having exact same problem with my Ericsson Xperia X10 so its not just HTC :(
T-Mobile said they wont repair it because they think its my fault and say I was too "Heavy handed" when charging it up. Im so angry at the moment.

I cant say I have had any issues with my HTCWildfire, albeit some apps caused it to crash, I just removed them. Has anyone considered resetting their phone to factory settings and starting afresh?

Update with my Desire..... if you remember the rebooting issue started when I was using the GPS. Later on it rebooted for any reason, but it was GPS that first started it.

Well I got my phone back from HTC with new motherboard fitted and I went to use GPS today and guess what, no it didn't reboot, but it won't find a GPS signal.

It just sits there saying searching for satellite. I left it searching for like an hour and I was driving about with the phone on a cradle stuck to the windscreen. But still it failed to find GPS ..... maybe they have taken GPS off the thing to stop it causing the reboot issue. I dunno.

***** Hang On ***** just installed Chartcross GPS Test and it has picked up sats. Why did it not work before ???
  • Are we talking about the desire or the desire HD? i have the HD and it is doing the same thing as everyones here. I e-mailed HTC stating the problem and they sent me a ups tracking label to print out and got UPS to pick my phone up on a day i preferred. Just waiting on it to come back so hopefully everything will be OK. Also they were very quick to respond, under an hour from me sending the initial e-mail.
