Well I think the OP deserves a lot of praise and not a lot of the brickbats that have been thrown. OK the inclusion of "paying my taxes etc" was perhaps misjudged, but I think it is refreshing that a couple of young parents to be have the foresight to be wanting to prepare early for the birth of their baby - MSE style.

Good luck to you both!

I found out with both - hospital policy was more relaxed. And I have to say I felt a little wave of disappointment that I was having a second boy. I wanted a girl and don't want to be pregnant again. I'm glad I got that out of the way before the birth, as meeting him was magical and I would have hated it to be marred with disappontment over the sex! We all have our little ideas about our growing families. It is completely seperate to health issues and should not be confused. Of course we don't care about the sex as long as baby is healthy, that is a given. But when you are assured everything is fine, then all manner of pleasant thoughts enter your mind, like shopping and making up a nursery. Don't take that pleasure away from people just because they are lucky and everything is well.

OP need to get over himself!

Look forward to and hope for a healthy child, girl or boy! If you're normal you'll love them whatever they are.

Be thankful you can have a child at all.

Do you know the Monty Python sketch argument clinic? What's the matter were you feeling left out of the 'lets bash the literate poster' gang?
