  • There has been quite a few locations near to me used in television - Several episodes of 'Boon' were filmed at Marlpool near shipley park (I can remember seeing them film a van getting stuck under the bridge, and eventually ending up in the fishing lake near the now closed 'Inn on the lake', and at Ilkeston market place.

Also at Ilkeston, the BBC series 'Playing the Field' about the womens' football team. The pitch they used was at the 'Stanton Institute', locally known as the 'stute', and the factory where the girls worked was the 'Charnos' factory, which is now knocked down and is a housing estate.

The first Harry Potter film where they played Quidich, also filmed there as was Robin Hood Prince of thieves, .

Another scene from Robin Hood was filmed along the Roman Wall at Sycamore Gap, just near Once Brewed. The scene at the start where a kid is hiding up a tree. It's quite clearly visible from the road.

Of course there's Dads Army, filmed in Thetford.

I don't think you can really count locations which actually are where they say they are in the film. e.g. The film "Goal" has lots of shots of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, but then, it's supposed to be Newcastle, so there's no surprise there!

Talking of Sutton, Mr Bean was filmed in the old allders dept store.

I didn't think of Mr Bean, the swimming episode was filmed in the old hayes pool in west london and then the car park afterwards was the one at the airport bowl next to heathrow.
Inbetweeners is filmed in Ruislip. The high school is actually Ruislip High School and the shopping centre they visited in the last series was The Chimes in Uxbridge

Speaking of uxbridge, family affairs from channel five used to be filmed in and around uxbridge until they built the chimes, then it got relocated to hayes town and the marina they used to live in was the one in hayes/yeading on the grand union canal. Uxbridge was also used for the moneysupermarket advert with omid dhajalili when he went up on a crane at the end.

The inbetweeners pub in the very first episode is the orchard in ruislip which is actually a beefeater
  • Great locations posted here! Some of my favourites:
    - Heather Road in Warwickshire - was used as Hyacinth Bucket's house in Keeping Up Appearances
    - Crossbow House, Leigh Street, Slough - used as the exterior of the office block from 'The Office'
    - In Glenquin, County Clare in Ireland you can find the Parochial house from Father Ted

If anyone's after any other locations, I've recently launched a site showing lots of filming locations from television programmes and films, current count is 233 locations. If you'd like to have a look to see some more locations the address is findthatlocation.com

PS. I do hope this post doesn't get classed as spam as I'm mentioning this website - I thought I'd mention it in case anyone would like to see more locations :)
