There's a Popular tourist attraction here that's a Cliff in the Lough Navar Forest Park near Belleek,Co.Fermanagh,NI that gives a spectacular panoramic view out over Lower Lough Erne, part of the Fermanagh Lakelands..It got shoehorned into a Locally Made Movie some time back called "The Mapmaker" for some visual impact in a sequence where a character had a recurring flashback of a Mysterious black helicopter flying with this view in the Background..
It's worth the drive up!Ipoints 5392

I know they were filming Pirates of the Carribbean at the Old Royal Navy College in Greenwich. Even got a glimpse of Johnny and his stunt double filming!
Think Sherlock Holmes is going to be filmed there soon too...
That's mad about Misfits filming in Thamesmead, I work there as well!
I live a stones throw from the Old Royal Naval College and this is the tip of the iceberg. Its used for filming about once a month for something. Harrison Ford was hijacked there at the start of Patriot Games, the Golden Compass, it was the majestarium, Wolfman, the Duchess, loads of TV stuff, any human heart, Little Dorrit and the first of those M&S adverts with the women on buses...
also inside the painted hall is used regularly for example the dining hall in a Harry Potter film (dont ask me which one)
as a free day out Greenwich is great, the painted hall and chapel are beautiful, the naval college is amazing as are the river viws and just over the road (literally) is one of London's finest parks, the observatory and the National maritime museum - all free to enter!
oh and nearly forgot Time Team was also filemed in the park digging up some roman remains!0 -
They've been filming recently in Manchester's Northern Quarter for the new film Captain America (bbc linky) because it apparently resembles 1940s Brooklyn.
Hmmmm, I'm still not really finding anything that makes Manchester look good! :rotfl:
ETA. Oooh, oooh, I've remembered. Much of Life on Mars was of course filmed around here
Well not much...Life on Mars was filmed in Back China Lane off Dale Street but had many more film locations away from NQ eg
Collyhurst
Miles Platting
Ancoats
Gorton
And the Casino Club featured was actually Tiger Lounge
Captain America brought a superbly fitted out outdoor set to Dale Street and parts of Back Piccadilly and China Lane - the public were allowed to walk through it at night and I have some pics I can and will upload.
Cutting It - A TV Series about a series about Hairdressers of all things was filmed outside mainly in the Northern Quarter, indeed a shop on Dale Street was used by both Cutting It and Captain America.
Very small parts of Sherlock Holmes was filmed in the NQ but only in alleyways -one was Back Picadilly
And dont forget Liverpool - Captain America was also filmed there in the docks....0 -

For fans of the definitive televison 'Miss Marple', the BBC series starring the late Joan Hickson, will find her house 'Danemead' and other aspects of 'St. Mary Mead' in the village of Nether Wallop - the house is on a curve in Five Bells lane.
Does anyone know where the exterior location was for 'Bertram's Hotel' ?0 -
