We went to poundland and bought two in car cigarette cup things. So we have learnt our lesson.
My moan was that I have never heard of anyone getting fined for litter. But if it happens then so be it, I don't know why all of a sudden this thread has been brought back up, other than for people who have so much resentment to come on here rather than actually do something about it to someones face. Easier that way isnt it.
You should realise that if you post a thread then you have no control over whoever wants to contribute and when! Thats not your call and if someone wants to add a comment at any point, that's up to them.
And your last sentence just does not make any sense at all - how would that work exactly on an internet forum, to "do something about it to someone's face"???????0 -
how do they know he threw it out the car ive had one come in my car once and it wasnt mine
it could have come from anywhere.
but nice one for admitting it was you
but i do see much worse coming out of car windows0 -

so if that happens you can just throw it out?0 -

Putting people in bins and calling them 'litter'?
Now that's a bit harsh - lol.

Fantastic news. About time the scum who are guilty of this disgusting habit were punished.0

We have just recieved a fine today of £75.00 as my husband was seen throwing a butt from his car. Not very money saving at all!
We are obviously going to pay it, and reading about it I do understand why they are doing so, but just never occurred that people dropping Macdonalds litter getting fined, let alone a cigarette butt!!!
So am just warning anyone who has this bad habit like us to think twice before throwing it out the window!!
(A very hefty fine for something offhand that you see day in day out.)0 -
the wardens also deal with a lot of stuff outwith issuing fines.
we are a tourist city and Im happy for them to ramp it up and get heavy with the fines.some areas of the city get in a right state
worse now as the council used to do large waste uplifts for free
now its one a year meaning some folks are more likely to dump stuff(can still drop them off at the council tips free)
I'd rather have some cigarette butts on the streets followed by some street cleaners than scummy busybodies that are nowhere near as usefull as they claim they are.
The stupid cigarette collectors are more of a problem than the butts being tossed in the street because they're far too small to collect cigarettes then become jammed and start smouldering fumes from the filters.0 -

well if all the scummy smokers were a little more considerate with their cancer sticks, neither would be needed0 -
thanks for not only letting people know, but also taking the time to remind us smokers of the consequences! i was lucky enough to work with some of the people dishing out the fines a few weeks ago and recieved a free stubbi (a little pouch to extinguish then temporarily dispose of cigs), so thanks to them too0

These fines rely upon an admission, very little chance of going to court if you ignore it, you do have a right to silence and a right not to give any evidence which may incriminate you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
