MSE staff seem very quiet on this one. There website in some shape or form is responsible for this and being perfectly honest Martin should have ensured he and everyone of his senior management cancelled their meetings today to resolve this and reassure people.

As has been suggested a breach of data protection has almost certainly occurred furthered by the fact the website seem to have known of it and taken no preventative measures. That big fine they could get isn't very moneysaving.

I'm sure it's very frustrating for everyone who has received an email and is worrying about what might happen next :)
I'm also very sure that the MSE team are working their backsides off to sort it out and this is the reason they 'seem' to be quiet on this thread. They are reading it constantly though.
I'd rather they got on with investigating the problem and post here when they have something to tell us :)

    And? :rotfl:

IMHO, after reading your first post, I'd be more concerned myself about UK libel legislation! :)

I have a friend to whom I recommended this site in about May/June 2010.

I've just asked her to check her emails and she has not had the email in either her normal folder or SPAM. I'll remind her to check tomorrow as she's not online as much as me :o.

I also received this e-mail addressed to my forum name into my junk folder. I knew there was something fishy as the website name in the e-mail was moneyexpert and not moneysavingexpert, therefore I didn't click on the link. However, I am surprised as to how someone got hold of my e-mail address that is associated with the forum username.
  • Same here. Got an email this morning. Was very surprised as never had emails from this website. Luckily I erred on the side of caution and relegated it as junk mail. Really worrying as quite obviously there has been a security breach somewhere.
  • I got one of these too today!

I think they should be doing both. This website generates large monies and enables Martin to live a very healthy lifestyle financially and therefore he shouldn't be able to shy away from his legal responsibilities on the premise he is doing people a favour. This goes for the rest of his paid management team.

Sadly its likely to be voluntary staff who get it in the ear.
