clear plastic bag for security at airport

Just to say that maybe people have things like eyedrops, or toothpaste (some of us have long flights), rescue remedy etc and that's why you need a bag.
Earlier this year my bag was too big!! (a lot bigger, not 1 inch) and they were going to charge me £1, said they would, but then gave me a bag- whew- that was at Manchester. How nit picking can you get.
I understood that this whole ruling was going to change but haven't heard anymore about that. has anyone else?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

We had our liquids in sandwich bags which fit the size requirements but were not ziplock type seals. We were made to buy bags. This was Manchester airport this year. It made me sulk! Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!
Best wins this year so far: £100 Hobbycraft Voucher, £50 cash, GoPro Camera0 -

?
No that's why SOME people need a bag, which no-one is denying.
On the only long flight I've done recently I was handed a bag with toothpaste/toothbrush and a few other oddments anyway
When I went through security I was amused, if that's the word, to see someone trying to take through a LARGE holdall stuffed with large bottles of toiletries. They kept asking more as she reluctantly produced some of the contents.
I did wonder if she was a training exercise designed to test their persistence - surely no-one could be that stupid?0 -
I flew from Liverpool 2 weeks ago, there were no queues at all in security at midday on a Sunday, brilliant I thought, straight through.
Yeah right! The security guy told me my clear ziplock bag was too big! I honestly thought he was joking, as it was only slightly bigger than the ones that are issued from the machine.
I then had to go back to the machine, luckily I had some change, carrying my boots, belt, hand luggage, etc and faff about swapping everything over.
By then quite long queues had formed. I went through another gate and my liquids bag wasn't even glanced at.
What made me even crosser were that loads of people had larger bags than mine and sailed through.
My O.H. was quite frantic as he'd been sent through another gate and couldn't find me. Also I had quite intensive body search as I kept beeping! Found nothing but I think I'll stop wearing underwired bra's!
Also this is the first time we have taken a netbook with us. That was weighed at Liverpool but not returning from Malaga.0 -

Oh yes they can , flying out of Dusseldorf the other day 2 women were drinking coffee in the queue for security and were amazed when they were told it counted as liquids and couldnt be taken throughVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Ive bought the bags from Waitrose before, think you got about 50 in a pack.
The reason for the bag is to stop people bringing too much stuff - i.e if they just said everything had to be under 100ml, there would be nothing to stop someone bringing 1000 little bottles in a suitcase.0 -
I fly with hand luggage only most of the time. Liquids are in a plastic bag for security then placed in hand luggage for the journey.
Not a problem.Normal people worry me.0 -
Heathrow Terminal 3 has stacks of the bags just before security. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
