My sister-in-law was stopped recently at Liverpool Airport because her plastic bag was too large! They should be approx 20cms by 20cms and hers was 21cm by 21cm. The Liverpool Taliban insisted she purchase another one from the machine there but happily a spare one was provided by a helpful passenger and calm was restored. Who knows what could have happened had she managed to board the plane with this oversized plastic bag:rotfl:
By the way she has travelled extensively with this size plastic bag before without any problems whatsoever.0 -

I got away with an old Warburton's bread bag last year. I was ready to demonstrate that I could unseal it and reseal it by simply undoing the knot in the plastic and then re-knotting it, but no questions were asked.
Remarkably the plane got to it's destination quite safely.

Urgent update at Stansted!
BAA now CHARGE you for plastic bags, £1 for 4.
if your bag is of the "wrong type" they MAKE you buy a new one! they now have to be "air-tight" zip lock types. this is a total scam, but what can you do!?

Don't take liquids, etc, in your hand luggage - I never do.0 -

To me 21cm by 21cm is as near as dammit to approximately 20cm by 20cm, but that probably explains why I have not got a job as a security gaurd at an airport.0 -

Going back to lewroll's post from May:
I can't believe that someone (even somebody who is used to looking at plastic bags all day) can see that a plastic bag with a number of bottles and pots in is 1cm bigger along the length and width than it should be.
We're talking about 1/4" too big - in a bag distorted in shape by its contents.
Wonder if Gatwick charge now?
They've always given them away free.0 -
I'm quite impressesd that security can tell a bag size by eye to 1cm!0

Re-sealable sandwich bags, 8 in a box from the pound shop.
Worked fine for me, on several occasions. One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other0 -

Same here , I thought maybe I was mad:D
I understand those who arent checking in cases , but it would appear that even people who have checked in baggage still want to take all this stuff on board with them
I havent noticed gatwick or heathrow charging for them , and been to both airports in the last monthVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
