Where do you buy these bags, been looking at the supermarket, but cannot find the right size and they are freezer bags? Thanks

I use whatever sandwich bag I have at home or wait till the airport and transfer them over then. Didn't realise it had to be a certain size
  • I have always used clear plastic food bag. Mostly I use one of the smaller ones (it's supposed to be less than 1 litre capacity) and seal it with one of those ties that comes with the bags. Never had any bother with them. On a recent trip within the UK, I used a jumbo-sized food bag. No problems going out, but on the way back I was told off and given (!!) another bag that was the proper size. So I decanted everything (50 ml shampoo and 25 ml toothpaste) into the new bag and everyone was happy. In my opinion, these rules are plain silly.

i just use a standard sandwich bag
  • For something more substantial, you could get one of those gifty things that come in clear plastic (small) purses. Use the "purse" for the airport, give the contents as Xmas prezzies - or use them yourself!
    Normal people worry me.

Asda also do a travel set for about £2 which includes a suitable thick plastic bag with 2 x 100ml containers and a small pot that all fit in the bag which are suitable for decanting your own products into

    From the BAA website:

They must be carried separately in a single bag which is:
    • Transparent and resealable
    • No larger than 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in)
    • Able to close properly with all the items inside.
Gatwick usually provide them free (they did when we last flew from there in August this year).

A couple of yerars ago, I used one of the more substantial ones as suggested by Hobson's Choice which was actually very slightly smaller than the free ones but was told to use the bags they provided.
